The loss dropped the Jags to 0-2 on the young season.
All three doubles matches were close, but Dayton came away with wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 spot to offset a win from
David Beasley and
Jose Calero at the third doubles position.
In singles action, four of the six matches went three sets and three of the four went IUPUI's direction.
Adam Reinhart rallied from a first-set loss to win 6-4, 6-2 to win at the No. 2 spot, and the same was true for
Jac Newis at the No. 3 position. Newis fell 6-4 in the opening set only to regroup with wins of 6-4 and 7-5 in the final two sets.
In the first singles match of his career,
Thomas Hulme came out strong winning 6-0 in the opening set, but his opponent bounced back with a 6-4 win to force a third set. Despite the setback, Hulme emerged with a 6-4 win of his own in the third set to earn the victory.
Unfortunately for the Jags, losses at the No. 1, No. 4 and No. 5 positions allowed the Flyers to secure the slim 4-3 victory.
Up next for the Jags is a trip to Purdue on Monday, Jan. 19. The match is set to begin at 5 p.m.
