NEW ORLEANS - Both the IUPUI men's and women's track programs have earned All-Academic Team accolades from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the second straight season.
In order to be recognized, a team must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or higher. Head Coach
Antonio McDaniel's women's team had a 3.54 GPA, tied for the tenth highest mark in the nation. Overall, 208 Division I women's programs were recognized.Â
On the men's side, Head Coach
Chuck Koeppen's squad managed a 3.11 GPA and was among 116 teams honored.Â
IUPUI was among four schools from The Summit League (IUPUI, North Dakota State, South Dakota, South Dakota State) and among five in-state schools (Butler, IUPUI, Indiana State, Notre Dame, Purdue) to have both its men's and women's programs honored.Â
On the men's side, Alabama (indoor) and Georgia (outdoor) were named Scholar Teams of the Year while on the women's side, Texas swept both the indoor and outdoor awards. Chattanooga had the top men's team GPA in the country at 3.60 and San Francisco was tops among the women's teams at 3.63.Â
