INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Jaguars will travel to Detroit to take on the Titans this Saturday in their final match of the season before the conference tournament begins.
The IUPUI – Detroit matchup has been a closely contested one in recent years. The schools have split a pair of 5-2 matches the last two years and both will enter this weekend's match with similar records.
Detroit took last year's match, although both
Jason Jaruvang and
Thomas Gans won points in singles. Jaruvang's was a straight-set win at No. 1 singles and Gans won his No. 5 singles matchup in a third-set super tiebreak 10-8 over Detroit's Jay Joshi.
A rematch between Gans and Joshi is a strong possibility for this Saturday. Joshi has played all of his matches this year at the top three spots and played his most recent at No. 3 singles, the same spot Gans has played in for nearly half the season. A win for Gans would make him the third Jaguar with double-digit singles wins this spring.
