DAYTON, Ohio - IUPUI suffered a close loss at home to Butler last weekend and the hits keep coming. On the road at Dayton after winning the doubles point to open the match, IUPUI dropped four of six in singles to fall 4-3. The loss is the ninth in a row and puts IUPUI at 2-12 overall. 

Thomas Gans and Jacob Bradley continued their strong play at No. 2 doubles securing one of two 8-4 wins. The other belongs to Jason Jaruvang and Manuel Laboy. Gans and Bradley improved their doubles record to a team best 6-4, all at No. 2 doubles. 

Up 1-0 IUPUI needed a split in singles. Jaruvang and Akshay Verma took down their opponents in quick order to take the 3-0 lead and needed only one more win. Alex Toliver wasn't able to get it done, leaving Bradley, Gans and Patrick O'Neill. All three went to a third set. 

Against Butler, three matches went to a third set and IUPUI needed two wins. They only got one. Against Dayton they needed only one, but couldn't get any. Both Gans and O'Neill nearly forced a tiebreak but lost the final game. 

Jaruvang's win gives him five singles wins this spring and nine overall, improving his record to 3-4 at No. 1 singles. Verma's win was his fourth of the season. All of them have come at No. 6 doubles. 

IUPUI's next match will be next Saturday, March 8 against DePaul in Chicago.
