  • SDSU is the top rebounding team in conference play outrebounding its opponents by 9.1 rpg.

THE SERIES WITH THE JACKRABBITS
  • South Dakota State has controlled the all-time series between the two schools owning a 13-2 advantage in the series.
  • IUPUI had its two-game winning streak over the Jackrabbits snapped in Brookings, S.D., a month ago, falling 63-57 on Jan. 9.

LAST TIME OUT ...
  • For the fourth time in Summit League play, DeAirra Goss scored at least 20 points and paced three double-digit scorers leading IUPUI to a 77-53 win over North Dakota State Thursday evening at The Jungle.
  • The Jags shot 61.5 percent from the field in the second half thanks in part to hitting 12 of their first 13 shots helping their seven-point half-time lead grow to as many as 24 points. From that point, IUPUI's seventh straight win was never in doubt as it ultimately improved to 17-6 overall and 7-1 in The Summit League. North Dakota State dropped to 6-17 overall and 2-6 in the conference.
  • Goss hit 9-of-15 shots to lead the Jaguars with 20 points, but it was IUPUI's ability to score inside that proved to be the difference. Nevena Markovic scored 15 points and added eight rebounds, Rogers added 12 points and eight boards, and Maddox chipped in nine points and six boards helping IUPUI outscore the Bison in the paint, 52-20.
  • Holly Johnson scored seven of her 14 first-half points in the first 4:26, and on the other end of the floor the Jags hit just one of their first seven shots allowing the Bison to sprint out to a 14-2 lead nearly five minutes in.
  • Another Johnson three kept the NDSU lead at nine, 21-12, with 11:06 on the clock, but a 12-1 IUPUI run featuring four points each from Goss and Maddox gave the Jags their first lead of the game at 24-22 with a little more than seven minutes to go.
  • In the final minutes of the opening half, a three from Markovic and an easy bucket from Rogers helped the Jags take a 36-29 advantage into the half.
  • Despite the slow start offensively, the Jags were able to get back into the flow in the first half thanks to its defense. The Jags forced the Bison into 12 first-half turnovers resulting in 16 IUPUI points, while NDSU failed to score on eight Jaguars turnovers.
  • The second half couldn't have started any better for the Jags offensively as they hit 12 of their first 13 shots from the floor in the first 11 minutes, while committing just one turnover, allowing them to extend their lead to 23 points, 61-38.
  • From that point, the Jaguars lead never dipped below 18 points and they cruised to a 77-53 victory.

SPECIALITY STATS
  • In IUPUI's win over North Dakota State on Feb. 6, the Jags were able to capitalize in the paint and they were able to turn the Bison turnovers into points.
  • The frontcourt combination of Akilah Sims, Nevena Markovic, Shanika Maddox and Mikale Rogers combined to score 41 points and grab 24 rebounds in the win, helping IUPUI outscored NDSU 52-20 in the paint.
  • The 52 points in the paint were a season-high for the Jags.
  • IUPUI also managed to force the Bison into 21 turnovers, and it scored 26 points off those turnovers compared to NDSU scoring just two points off 12 Jaguars turnovers.

12 WITH AT LEAST 10
  • Balanced scoring has been important for IUPUI this season as six different players have led the team in scoring.
  • Throughout the season, IUPUI has had different players step up and score, which has made it tough on defenses to key in on just one player.
  • Through 23 games, all 12 IUPUI players that have played this season have scored in double figures at least once, making the Jags just one of four teams nationally to have every player that has played for a team this season reach double figures.
  • The other teams are George Washington, Florida Atlantic and Florida.
  • However, IUPUI's 12 players with at least one double figure scoring game are the most in the country according to Stats, Inc.
  • Florida Atlantic and George Washington have had 11 players score in double figures this season, while Florida has had nine.

LEADER OF THE PACK
  • Since the start of Summit League play, senior guard DeAirra Goss has elevated her play on both ends of the floor.
  • In the non-conference portion of the Jags schedule, Goss led IUPUI with 11.8 ppg, while adding 4.1 rpg and 1.3 apg. She scored those 11.8 ppg on 43.8 percent shooting from the floor, and got to the line around five times per game while connecting on 62.8 percent of her tries.
  • Since league play began, Goss has been more aggressive on the offensive end averaging 17.5 ppg, while averaging 3.5 rpg and 1.8 apg.
  • Not only is she shooting 54.2 percent from the field, but she is also hitting 76.7 percent from the stripe.
  • During this stretch, Goss has scored in double figures seven times, including over 20 points four times.
  • That was highlighted by a career-high 27 points on a career-best 11 made field goals against South Dakota on Jan. 16.
