INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Jaguars (2-4) will start the weekend off against Xavier (2-3) on Saturday (Feb. 8) as they try to end two trends. Xavier has won each of the last two meetings the last two years against IUPUI, and the Jaguars have lost their last two matches of the season.
The Jaguars lost 5-2 the last time they travelled to Cincinnati, although
Thomas Gans and Patrick O'Neill were the only current players on the team. Gans won his doubles match in the No. 3 spot to help the Jaguars take the doubles point that day.
Xavier traveled to Indy for its matchup last year and came away a clean sweep of the Jags. Only
Jason Jaruvang was able to force a third set in his match, but the super tiebreaker was lost 10-8. If both coaches stick with their lineups, then Jaruvang will get his rematch with Xavier's Jimmy Roebker at No. 1 singles. Jaruvang is 3-3 this year in dual matches, 1-2 at No. 1 singles. Roebker is 1-4 on the season, 0-4 at No. 1 singles.
Following their match in Cincinnati, the Jaguars will return to Indianapolis to play UIndy (2-0) on Sunday (Feb. 9), although the match will be held at the UIndy Tennis Center. Sunday's match will begin at 1 p.m.
