ABOUT NORTH DAKOTA STATE
  • After starting 0-4 in league play, the Bison have won two of their last three games to improve to 2-5 in The Summit League.
  • NDSU is coming off a six-point win on Saturday against Denver, where leading scorer Brooke LeMar scored 33 points to pace the Bison. LeMar leads the team in scoring averaging 16.0 ppg, and she also dishes out 5.3 apg.
  • Marena Whittle is also a force on the block for North Dakota State averaging 12.7 ppg and a team-leading 7.0 rpg.
  • NDSU does a good job taking care of the basketball and as a team they own an assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.1, which ranks second in The Summit League.
  • The Bison are also strong from the free throw line shooting 74.8 percent from the line, which ranks second in the league.

THE SERIES WITH THE BISON
  • Thursday's meeting will be the 15th all-time between the two schools with NDSU holding an 8-6 edge in the all-time series.
  • IUPUI has won two straight in the series, including a 25-point win nearly a month ago in Fargo.

LAST TIME OUT ...
  • A 24-4 run out of the gates gave IUPUI a comfortable early lead against Omaha and the Jaguars never looked back as they finished off a 77-45 win over the Mavericks Saturday afternoon (Feb. 1) at Sapp Fieldhouse.
  • The win extended IUPUI's Summit League winning streak to six games as it upped its record to 16-6 overall and 6-1 in the conference. Omaha fell to 9-12 and 1-6 in league play.
  • Last season, IUPUI scored just 45 total points in a two-point win at Omaha. But what a difference a year made as the Jags hit 11 of their first 13 field goals en route to shooting 66.7 percent (20-30) in the first half and eclipsed last season's point total in just 20 minutes as it took a 48-19 lead into the break. The Jags first-half field goal percentage tied a season-high for field goal percentage in a half.
  • For the game, the Jags ended up shooting 48.3 percent from the floor, but they owned the offensive glass grabbing 19 of their 31 misses resulting in 13 second-chance points. The Jags defense held Omaha in check as the Mavericks hit just 28.9 percent of their looks from the floor.
  • Nevena Markovic led the Jaguars with 12 points, while IUPUI's leading scorer DeAirra Goss joined her in double figures with 10. After failing to score in IUPUI's previous six games, the Jags received an offensive boost off the bench from Kelsi Byrd with 11 points.
  • The Jaguars couldn't have asked for a better start to the game offensively as they hit 10 of their first 12 shots over the first 6:20 to sprint out to a 24-4 lead. During the spurt, Markovic had eight points, while Goss and Nicole Rogers each had six points.
  • Over the next 5:40, turnovers began to plague the Jaguars as four giveaways slowed down the offensive pace and resulted in just six points during that span as Omaha trimmed its deficit to 30-16 at the eight-minute mark.
  • Out of the under-eight-minute media timeout, six straight points from Goss fueled a 10-1 spurt that boosted IUPUI's cushion to 40-17 with 4:33 to play. In addition to Goss' six points, Katie Comello assisted on the final two baskets of the spurt using two nice lob passes to Shanika Maddox and Akilah Sims for easy lay-ups.
  • Down the stretch of the first 20 minutes, IUPUI kept its foot on the gas pedal and outscored the Mavericks 8-2 to take a 48-19 lead into the half.
  • After a slow start in the second half, Bellamy started a charge scoring the first three points, before Comello followed with five straight to expand the advantage to 56-22 five minutes in.
  • The rest of the way, the Mavericks never threatened and the lead never dipped below 25 and the Jags left Sapp Fieldhouse with a 77-45 win.

JAGS SET PROMOTIONS FOR THURSDAY AND SATURDAY
  • IUPUI returns home this weekend for a pair of important Summit League contests at The Jungle against North Dakota State and South Dakota State, and there will be a pair of events on campus associated with the contests.
  • On Thursday, Feb. 6, the Jag Prowl will take place at the IUPUI Campus Center beginning at 6 p.m. Head coach Austin Parkinson will get the Jag Prowl kicked off by speaking to the IUPUI students, who will then proceed to participate in some activities and giveaways as they proceed to The Jungle where they can watch the Jaguars take on the Bison at 7 p.m.
  • In addition to the activities and giveaways, which include rally towels and t-shirts, free food will be available for students, and as always admission will be free for IUPUI students.
  • Two days later on Saturday, Feb. 8, the Jags will host South Dakota State in its annual Breast Cancer Awareness game that will be televised locally on HomeTown Sports Network.
  • Tip is set for 3 p.m., and Greg Rakestraw and Bob Lovell will have the call. Entering the week, the Jackrabbits sit one game in front of the Jaguars for first place in the Summit League standings.
  • This year, the Jags are teaming up with the American Cancer Society for its Breast Cancer Awareness Game and fans who wear pink to the game will receive discounted admission of $2 to the game, a $5 discount off regular admission. In addition, kids under the age of 12 will be admitted for free.
  • When fans pay for their tickets, a donation bucket for the American Cancer Society will be present where fans will be able to help the organization 'make strides to end breast cancer.'
  • Also on Saturday, Toppers Pizza will be giving out pizza to students in attendance while supplies last.

12 WITH AT LEAST 10
  • Balanced scoring has been important for IUPUI this season as six different players have led the team in scoring.
  • Throughout the season, IUPUI has had different players step up and score, which has made it tough on defenses to key in on just one player.
  • Through 22 games, all 12 IUPUI players that have played this season have scored in double figures at least once, making the Jags just one of four teams nationally to have every player that has played for a team this season reach double figures.
  • The other teams are George Washington, Florida Atlantic and Florida.
  • However, IUPUI's 12 players with at least one double figure scoring game are the most in the country according to Stats, Inc.
  • Florida Atlantic and George Washington have had 11 players score in double figures this season, while Florida has had nine.
