INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Jaguars struggles continued Saturday as they fell to Wright State 6-1 at the South Regency Tennis Center in Springboro, Ohio. It was their worst loss since a 6-1 defeat at Marquette and was their fifth loss in six matches.
The individual matches weren't as bad as the final score though. Three singles matches went to a third set.
Patrick O'Neill won in three sets at No. 5 singles after dropping the first set 6-1. He pulled out the second sit with a tiebreaker and won the third-set super tiebreaker 12-10. O'Neill's win improves his singles record on the season to 3-4.
Thomas Gans and
Alex Toliver also played three sets at the No. 4 and No. 2 singles spots respectively, although both fell short.
Gans, Toliver and
Jacob Bradley each came into the match with four singles wins, but none came away with a win, so all three are still tied with the team lead.
Freshman
Rudolph Frazier saw his first singles action of the season in the No. 6 singles spot in place of
Akshay Verma and was competitive, but lost 6-4, 6-3.
IUPUI will travel next to Cincinnati on Saturday (Feb. 8) to take on Xavier at 7 p.m.
