MEN'S TENNIS SUFFERS SECOND LOSS OF WEEKEND AT NIU

IUPUI grabbed an early lead with the doubles point, but fell 601

INDIANAPOLIS - After traveling to West Lafayette to play No. 75 Purdue, the Jaguars faced another stiff test at Northern Illinois. The Huskies hadn't lost all year at home and defeated the Jaguars 6-1. IUPUI took the early lead winning No. 2 and 3 doubles, but couldn't maintain the lead in singles play.

The pairing of Thomas Gans and Jacob Bradley improved their team-best record at No. 2 doubles to 6-3 with an 8-5 win. Patrick O'Neill and Alex Toliver couldn't keep up with NIU's nationally-ranked No. 1 doubles pair of Dor Amir and Axel Lagerlof, but Manuel Laboy's and Jason Jaruvang's 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles gave the Jaguars an early point.

The Huskies needed four singles wins to clinch the match, but took all six. O'Neill nearly won the first set, playing to a tiebreaker and remained competitive in the second, but wasn't able to force a third set. His 7-6, 6-4 defeat moved his record at No. 4 singles to 1-2.

Gans leads the team with 11 total wins this spring and is tied with Toliver with five singles victories.
