  • Cal State Northridge advanced to the NCAA Tournament after winning the Big West regular-season and tournament titles, while both the Jaguars and Texas Southern were WNIT participants.
  • Cal State Northridge is 4-0 on the season following a pair of wins last week over BYU and Portland.

  • Montana State is 2-3 on the year after suffering a 79-64 loss at San Diego on Nov. 25. Senior Jasmine Hommes leads the Bobcats in scoring at 18.2 points per game while shooting 51.9 percent from the field.
  • The Bobcats were picked to finish sixth in the Big Sky Conference by the league's coaches.
  • Texas Southern is 0-4 following an overtime loss to Tulsa in its last game.
  • Three of the Tigers losses have come against tough competition having lost at Oklahoma State, TCU and Kansas
  • Senior forward Morgan Simmons is averaging a team-high 9.5 points and 7.8 rebounds per game.

THE SERIES AGAINST THE FIELD
  • IUPUI has never played against CSUN, Montana State or Texas Southern in program history.

LAST TIME OUT ...
  • Shaquira Scott led all players with a career-high 24 points propelling IUPUI to an 87-76 win over SIU-Edwardsville Tuesday evening at The Jungle.
  • Scott hit 7-of-8 from the floor and went 10-of-12 from the line en route to her career-high 24 points, and she was joined in double-figures by Nevena Markovic and Kelsi Byrd.
  • Markovic got IUPUI off to a great start scoring seven of her 17 points in the first few minutes, while Byrd scored eight of her 11 points in a two-minute stretch of the second half.
  • IUPUI shot 56.1 percent from the floor for the game despite going on nearly a seven-minute scoring drought midway through the first half. The Jaguars also showed their dominance on the glass by outrebounding the Cougars 38-25, thanks to Markovic's 10 rebounds securing her first double-double of the season.
  • The Jags got off to that great start by hitting nine of their first 13 shots as they sprinted out to a 22-9 lead eight minutes in. Markovic scored seven points in the first 3:30 to get things started, and four different players scored during the remainder of that stretch to keep the lead in double-figures.
  • However, following a Shanika Maddox bucket that moved the lead to 22-9, the Jaguars went scoreless from the field for more than seven minutes allowing SIUE to close within six, 23-17. The drought was broken by a Scott basket at the 5:41 mark, but the Cougars trimmed the deficit to five, 25-20, with 5:13 to go.
  • Down the stretch, IUPUI returned to form and closed the half on a 14-3 run to take a 39-23 lead into the half. During that run, Scott scored six points and Martha Burse tacked on four.
  • The second half started in a similar fashion as the first with the Jags hitting seven of their nine shots, fueled by a pair of three's from Byrd and a triple from Akilah Sims.
  • A Maddox lay-up just past the midway point of the second half escalated the cushion to 24 points, 70-46, and from that point the Cougars never really threatened.
  • With the outcome already decided, SIUE made a late run that ultimately resulted in the 11-point IUPUI victory.

GREAT SCOTT
  • Heading into the season, the Jaguars needed to replace their leading scorer from last year in DeAirra Goss. Through four games, Scott has been the Jags leading scorer giving them a spark on the offensive end.
  • To kick off the season, Scott had 16 points in a loss to #11 Louisville, before scoring nine and three, respectively, against Eastern Illinois and #15 Michigan State.
  • Scott returned to form against SIUE on Nov. 25 hitting 7-of-8 shots from the field and 10-of-12 from the line en route to scoring a career-high 24 points.
  • It marked the first 20-plus point effort for IUPUI this season, and Scott now leads the team in scoring at 13.5 ppg, while shooting an impressive 60.9 percent from the field.

DOUBLE UP
  • Nevena Markovic closed the 2013-14 season on a high note posting five double-doubles in the team's last seven games.
  • This season, Markovic has slowly been working her way back into action, but on Tuesday she picked up where she left off last season.
  • Earning her first start of the season against SIU-Edwardsville, Markovic put in 17 points on 8-of-11 shooting, and added 10 boards for her first double-double of the season.
  • A week earlier, In IUPUI's 66-44 win over Eastern Illinois on Nov. 18, Markovic went a perfect 6-for-6 from the floor en route to scoring 16 points in just 18 minutes of action.
  • Over the last 11 games, including the last seven games of the 2014 season, Markovic has scored in double figures nine times and posted six double-doubles.
