IUPUI and No. 11/12 Louisville meet at 5 p.m. at the Indiana State Fairgrounds Coliseum

INDIANAPOLIS - The 2014-15 season, which marks the 40th season of women's basketball, begins for IUPUI on Friday, Nov. 14, when the Jaguars welcome No. 11/12 Louisville to the Indiana State Fairgrounds Coliseum for a 5 p.m. tip.
 
GAMEDAY INFORMATION
  • The Jaguars and Cardinals will tip at 5 p.m. and the game will be streamed live on IUPUIJags.com. Morgan Adcock will have the call.
  • Friday's game will be the opener of a doubleheader, with the IUPUI men's team taking on Indiana State in the nightcap at 8 p.m.
  • Friday's game will take place at the Indiana State Fairgrounds Coliseum, which underwent a $63 million dollar renovation that took 22 months to complete.
 
ABOUT LOUISVILLE
  • The Cardinals are coming off an Elite 8 appearance and a 33-5 record in 2013-14, and they debut at No. 11 in the Preseason AP Poll and No. 12 in the Preseason Coaches Poll.
  • The 2014-15 season is Louisville's first season as an Atlantic Coast Conference member.
  • Under head coach Jeff Walz, Louisville returns eight letterwinners, including starters Bria Smith and All-American Sara Hammond.
  • In addition to the returnees, Louisville boasts the No. 8 incoming class that is highlighted by McDonald's All-Americans Myisha Hines-Allen and Mariya Moore.
  • Louisville was picked to finish third in the ACC at the conference's media day behind Notre Dame and Duke. Hammond earned preseason all-ACC honors by both the coaches and the media, and Hines-Allen (coaches) and Moore (Blue Ribbon Panel) received ACC newcomer watch list accolades.
 
THE SERIES WITH THE CARDINALS
  • Louisville is 4-0 all-time against the Jaguars, with three of those meetings taking place in the 1980's.
  • The last meeting between the two schools on Dec. 13, 2009, resulted in a 30-point win for Louisville.
  • Friday's meeting will be the third meeting all-time in Indianapolis with the Cards owning a 2-0 record in Indy.
 
LOOKING FOR THREE
  • Over the past two seasons, head coach Austin Parkinson has led the Jaguars to unprecedented success.
  • The Jags transitioned to the Division-I ranks during the 1998-99 campaign, and from that time to the 2012-13 season they had not claimed a 20-win season.
  • In each of the last two seasons, IUPUI has reached 20 wins, and it has also made back-to-back WNIT appearances for the first time in program history.
  • The Jaguars claimed its first postseason win defeating Central Michigan last year in Mount Pleasant, Mich., in the first round of the WNIT.
 
JAGS PICKED THIRD IN SUMMIT LEAGUE
  • The IUPUI women's basketball team was picked to finish third in the Summit League Preseason Poll in a vote of the league's head coaches, sports information directors and select media members.
  • South Dakota State was tabbed to win the league after winning its third consecutive regular-season title last season and accumulating 513 points, including 27 of the 32 first-place votes. The 2014 Summit League Tournament champion, South Dakota, was picked second with 420 points and earned four first-place votes. The Jags rounded out the top three with 408 points.
  • Western Illinois finished fourth and picked up the last first-place vote, and it was followed in order by Denver, Fort Wayne, Oral Roberts, Omaha and North Dakota State.
 
SEASON-OPENERS
  • Since joining the D-I ranks, the Jags are 6-10 in season-openers.
  • Previously, the Jaguars have taken on two nationally-ranked opponents in their season debuts taking on No. 17 Michigan State in East Lansing, Mich., on Nov. 9, 2007, and No. 21 Purdue in West Lafayette, Ind. on Nov. 13, 2011. The Jags are 0-2 against nationally-ranked opponents in season-openers.
  • The No. 11-ranked Cardinals are the highest-ranked opponent the Jags have faced in their season debut.
 
JAGS ON TV
  • IUPUI will have two home games televised on HTSN during the 2014-15 season.
  • The first of those two games will be on Dec. 4, against Indiana State at The Jungle, with the second televised game taking place on Feb. 21, vs. Oral Roberts.
  • Greg Rakestraw (pxp) and Bob Lovell (analyst) will return once again as the Jaguars broadcast team.
  • HTSN can be seen over-the-air on channel 6.2, and is available on numerous cable systems in central and southern Indiana, including Comcast and Brighthouse.
