INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - IUPUI (2-3) opened up the weekend's action in Milwaukee with a 6-1 loss to Marquette (2-1) Saturday afternoon before cruising to a 7-0 victory over Cardinal Stritch (0-2) later in the evening. The loss was the IUPUI's third in a row, but it was short-lived with only five hours separating the match start times.
Jacob Bradley earned the only win for the Jaguars against Marquette in the No. 3 singles spot. Bradley's match was also the only match to go a third set.
Starting in the No. 1 singles spot for the third time this season,
Alex Toliver saw his perfect start to the season end at the hands of Marquette's Dan Mamalat. Toliver came back though in his next match and, after winning a close first set tiebreaker, ran away with the second set in a 6-5 (6), 6-2 win. The first set was only one in singles play against Cardinal Stritch to go to a tiebreaker and none of the matches required a third set.
With their wins Saturday, Toliver and Bradley improved their singles records to 4-1. Along with his doubles partner
Thomas Gans, Bradley improved his doubles record to 3-1 on the season, all at the No. 2 doubles spot.
