INDIANAPOLIS – Playing its first of three matches in four days, the IUPUI men’s tennis team snapped its six-match losing streak with a 6-1 victory over Marian University on Wednesday afternoon.
The win upped IUPUI’s overall record to 3-15.
Behind a doubles sweep, the Jaguars raced out to the early one-point lead entering singles action.
In singles play,
Jason Jaruvang registered his seventh win in his last eight matches with a 6-2, 6-4, straight-sets victory at the top spot, which preceded a 6-3, 7-5, victory from fellow freshman
Jake Hedderig at the second position.
IUPUI kept rolling with wins from
Deon Shafer and
Thomas Gans at the third and fourth positions, respectively, before the Knights got on the board with a straight-sets victory at the fifth position.
To close things out,
Louis Sacks earned a 6-3, 6-1 win at the sixth spot to secure the 6-1 IUPUI victory.
The Jaguars resume Summit League action on Friday, April 5, when they head to Fort Wayne, Ind., to take on Omaha at 11 a.m. at the IPFW Courts.
