4/26/2013 2:22:00 PM

INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI men's track team will have one more opportunity to set new standards as the Jaguars will run at crosstown Butler University in the Stan Lyons Invitational on Saturday (Apr. 27). The meet is scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m. on the city's near Northside. Nearly the entire Jaguars' roster will be in action on Saturday with participants entered in six different events.

The Jaguars will be running primarily against host Butler, Bradley and DePaul, along with individual entries.

In the 800, freshman Amos Schreuder leads IUPUI's two entries, having run 2:02.06 earlier this season. Schreuder is also entered in the 1,500 and will be joined by school record holder Ryan Cutter and Cody Marowski in that race. Cutter set the school record of 3:53.18 earlier this season.

All total, 14 Jaguars will take part in the 5,000m race with Cutter being the team's top performer at 14:41.51. Eight of the Jaguars' top 10 all-time will be among the field, including Zane Cooperider (14:49.47), Joey Zielinski (14:57.52), Miguel Lozano (15:02.07) and Marowski (15:13.40).

Senior #J.D. Smith# will pull a unique double on Saturday, running in the 3,000m steeplechase and throwing the javelin, both events where he already holds the school records. Smith ran a 9:34.06 steeple at Miami earlier this season and set the javelin mark at this meet a year ago, throwing a distance of 48.01m. The meet holds special signifigance to Smith as his father was recruited to throw javelin at Butler by Lyons.

IUPUI will also enters teams in the 4x400m event for the first time this spring.
