AUSTIN, Texas - The IUPUI women's golf team finished play at the Challenge at Onion Creek on Tuesday (Apr. 2), shooting a final round 306 to close at 12th among the 13-team field. The Jaguars finished the 54-hole event at 922, falling five shots behind 11th place Stephen F. Austin.

Gonzaga won the event at 862 while host Texas State, ranked No. 36 nationally, shot 865. Kennesaw State (870), Texas Tech (872) and Washington State (874) rounded out the top five.

Sophomore Yuri Otsuka was IUPUI's low scorer for the third straight round, firing a final round 5-over 75 on Tuesday. Like Monday, Otsuka racked up pars on the front nine, making par on eight of nine holes after opening her round on the 15th hole and going bogey-birdie-par-bogey. Otsuka finished the tournament at 15-over 225 (76-74-75) to tie for 28th overall.

Junior Ana Fernandez de Mesa finished tied for 44th at 230 (79-75-76) and mixed in three birdies during her final round 76. Seniors Jordan Woods and Lauren Kuss both finished the tournament at 236 and classmate Jordan Essman closed at 243.

Essman's day was highlighted by a birdie on the par-3, 167-yard No. 8 in the middle of her final round.

The Jaguars will return to action on Apr. 13-14 when they participate in the Indiana Invitational at the IU Varsity Course in Bloomington.
