WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The men’s 1-meter dive was the first event to take place on Day 1 of the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center on the campus of Purdue University, and of the three IUPUI men’s divers competing,
Cody Watts posted the best showing finishing 29th in the prelims.
Unfortunately for the Jags, they didn’t have a diver advance to the evening finals as the Top-18 divers in the prelims moved on.
Watts put together a six-dive score of 269.50, while sophomore
Alex Olson and senior
Mitchell Gauger placed 43rd and 45th, respectively.
After a slow start, Watts put together three straight solid dives in the middle of his six-dive set, with his best score coming in his fifth dive. Watts’ fifth dive was a Forward 1 ½ Somersault 2 Twist Free and he totaled a score of 48.10, which included a 7.0 score from one judge.
Watts, Gauger and Olson all will be back in action on Friday, March 15, at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center when they compete in the 3-meter dive.
