ABOUT MISSOURI STATE
  • The Bears come into Sunday's contest with a 1-1 record following a four-point win over Arkansas-Little Rock on Wednesday.
  • Kenzie Williams is the team's leading scorer averaging 22.5 ppg following a 21-point effort in a season-opening loss to Arkansas State and a 24-point performance in a win over UALR.
  • Bry Snow is the team's other double-figure scorer averaging 10.5 ppg.
  • The Bears own a +4.5 advantage on the boards early on this season, including a +4.0 advantage on the offensive glass.
  • While Missouri State has been able to control the glass, they have struggled taking care of the ball averaging 18.5 to/g, compared to 14.0 for its opponents.

THE SERIES WITH THE BEARS
  • Sunday's meeting will be the first meeting all-time between the two schools.

LAST TIME OUT ...
  • A 10-0 run to start the second half for the No. 22 Purdue Boilermakers moved its lead to double-digits and that proved to be too much to overcome as IUPUI fell to the nationally-ranked Boilermakers, 76-56, Tuesday night (Nov. 13) in front of a sellout crowd of 1,215 at The Jungle.
  • Purdue improved to 2-0 on the season and 4-0 all-time against the Jaguars, who dropped to 1-1.
  • Foul trouble plagued the Jaguars from the get-go and resulted in Purdue outscoring IUPUI 27-12 from the charity stripe.
  • A scoreless first 3:37 allowed the Boilermakers to jump out to a 6-0 lead, but a Nevena Markovic put-back ended the drought and spurred an 8-2 IUPUI run that knotted the score at eight with 12:58 on the clock.
  • A 7-0 Purdue run ensued, but the Jags continued to claw back using another 8-2 run fueled by four points from Shanika Maddox to close within one, 17-16, with 7:35 remaining.
  • The see-saw affair continued as the Boilermakers' lead fluctuated between six and two, but a Liza Clemons jumper and two Courtney Moses free throws in the final 1:23 sent Purdue into the locker room with a 32-26 lead.
  • Despite IUPUI shooting 55.0 percent (11-20) from the field in the opening half, including a perfect 3-of-3 shooting for Akilah Sims, 15 turnovers plagued the Jags. Purdue gave up the ball 11 times, but it hit 8-of-10 from the charity stripe to offset 40.7 percent shooting.
  • Another scoreless start to a half, this time of the six-minute variety, coupled with eight team fouls propelled Purdue to its first double-digit lead on the game, 42-26.
  • Each time it appeared as if the Jags would trim their deficit to single digits, the Boilermakers were able to get to the foul line to halt any momentum. Then, consecutive KK House triples quickly escalated the Purdue lead to 60- 40 with just under eight minutes to play, forcing Parkinson to burn a timeout.
  • From that point, Purdue finished out the final eight minutes and took down the Jags, 76-56.
  • Sims and Katie Comello led the way for IUPUI with 11 points apiece, while DeAirra Goss also reached double figures with 10.

UPCOMING PROMOTIONS
  • Sunday's game against Missouri State will be a continuation of IUPUI's Summit League Food Fight initiative as adults who bring a canned food item will receive discounted admission and a voucher to attend a future game.
  • Following Sunday's game, IUPUI's next home game will be on Tuesday, Nov. 26, when the Jags host Ohio Valley at 7 p.m. With Thanksgiving being just two days later, the IUPUI Department of Athletics has announced that fans who attend the game will receive free admission.

DOUBLE-FIGURE TRIO
  • Since Austin Parkinson's arrival during the 2010-11 season, the Jaguars are 23-14 when three or more of their players score in double figures, including 1-1 this season.
  • More impressively for IUPUI, while having three players score in double figures in both games this season, all of those double-figure performances have come from six different players.
  • In the opener vs. Belmont, Nicole Rogers came out of the gates strong hitting on 6-of-8 from the floor, including 4-of-6 from behind-the-arc, to finish with a game-high tying 16 points in her first career start.
  • Following her lead was Mikale Rogers, who in her first career game, came off the bench and scored 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting in just 15 minutes of action.
  • Nevena Markovic was the other player to reach double figures against the Bruins with 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting.
  • On Wednesday, Nov. 13, against the Boilermakers, Akilah Sims, Katie Comello and DeAirra Goss were IUPUI's scoring leaders.
  • Sims went 5-of-7 from the floor to tie Comello for the team lead with 11 points, while Goss finished with 10.
  • Through seven games, the Jaguars have seven players averaging 7.0 ppg or more.

FRONT-COURT PRODUCTION
  • Coming into the season, one of the questions facing the Jaguars was how they were going to replace the front-court production of Kerah Nelson.
  • Nelson, who completed her four-year career a season ago, finished her career as the program's all-time Division-I leading scorer with 1,614 career points. She also finished fifth in school history in rebounds with 705.
  • In the opener against, Belmont, the frontcourt of Akilah Sims, Shanika Maddox, Mikale Rogers and Nevena Markovic collectively answered those questions for at least one game.
  • That quartet combined to score 38 points and grab 26 rebounds for the Jags, led by Rogers' 13 points and Maddox's and Markovic's eight boards each.
  • That group also combined to hit on 17-of-29 field goals (58.6 percent).
  • Through two games this season, the frontcourt quartet is averaging 31.5 ppg and 20.5 rpg.

IUPUI INKS FIVE TO NLI'S DURING EARLY PERIOD
  • The IUPUI women's basketball program and head coach Austin Parkinson announced on Nov. 13 that five players have signed National Letters of Intent to join the IUPUI women's basketball program beginning in 2014-15.
  • Those five players are Martha Burse (Kankakee, Ill./Bradley Bourbonnais), Khadidiatou Diouf (Dakar, Senegal/Lake Forest Academy), Jenna Gunn (Mason, Ohio/Mason), Danielle Lawrence (Louisville, Ky./Butler) and Sara Ross (Lombard, Ill./Montini Catholic).
  • As a junior, Burse was a Chicago Sun Times (3A) Second-Team All-State selection, an Illinois AP Honorable-Mention All-State and an Illinois High School Coaches Association (3A/4A) Honorable-Mention All-State selection at Kankakee High School. Burse, a 5-7 point guard, accumulated over 1,500 points in three years at Kankakee and during her junior season, she nearly put up a quintuple double against Hoopeston in which she put up a line of 30 points, 17 rebounds, 10 blocks, nine assists and nine steals. She was a two-time, first-team all-conference performer and she will compete for Bradley Bourbannais High School during her senior campaign.
  • Originally from Dakar, Senegal, Diouf made her way to Lake Forest Academy thanks in part to the Sports For Education and Development in Senegal program (SEEDS), which gives Senegalese teenagers the opportunity to play in the United States through its Grow the Game Campaign. This past spring, the 6-2 Diouf was an Illinois AAU Girls Basketball All-State performer playing for Illinois Full Package. Despite being relatively new to the game, Parkinson is excited about Diouf's potential. Diouf plays for Lake Forest Academy in Illinois, where she nearly averaged a double-double as a junior.
  • Gunn is a 6-0 forward from Mason, Ohio, where she has been a three-year starter. As a junior, she helped Mason High School to a 22-2 record and was a consistent scorer reaching double figures in 16 of 24 games, averaging out to 12.9 ppg, while shooting 56.4 percent from the floor. In addition to shooting nearly 82.0 percent from the charity stripe, Gunn also averaged 5.8 rpg and 1.7 spg for the Comets. For her efforts, Gunn was a District 15 Underclassmen selection, a first-team all-Greater Miami Conference performer and an Associated Press Division-I special-mention all-district selection as a junior. She has twice been named a JJ Huddle All-Ohio Honorable-Mention selection.
  • Lawrence will make her way to IUPUI from Butler High School in Louisville, Ky., where she helped her team to a Sixth Region runner-up finish last season. Lawrence, a 5-10 guard, averaged 14.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg and eclipsed 1,000 career points during her junior campaign, which earned her honorable-mention all-state and first-team all-region honors in addition to claiming a spot on the Kentucky Junior All-Star Team.
  • Ross is a 5-10 guard from Montini Catholic High School in Lombard, Ill., where she has been a two-sport athlete in softball and basketball. On the hardwood, Ross has been a three-year starter earning all-conference and all-area honors twice. As a junior, Ross averaged 6.6 ppg, 5.0 rpg and 3.0 apg, and over her three years, she has been a part of a team that has finished in the Top 3 in the state three times including a pair of state championship victories. Ross recently had an impressive summer on the AAU circuit playing for the Lady Lightning Club in AAU, the same AAU team that current junior Nevena Markovic played for during her prep days.
