INDIANAPOLIS - It has been nearly five years since the IUPUI women's basketball team has hosted a ranked opponent, but that will end on Wednesday, Nov. 13, when No. 23 Purdue enters The Jungle to take on the Jags live on HTSN.

GAMEDAY INFORMATION
  • Wednesday's contest will be the fourth meeting between Purdue and IUPUI, and the third in as many seasons.
  • Wednesday's meeting also will be the first time that Purdue has played IUPUI in its home gym.
  • The game will be televised locally on HTSN, and Greg Rakestraw and Bob Lovell will handle the commentary.
  • Tip against Boilermakers is set for 7 p.m. and Morgan Adcock will provide the call on IUPUIJags.com.
  • #IMAJAGUAR T-shirts will be handed out to fans while supplies last on Wednesday, and fans who bring a non-perishable food item to donate will receive discounted admission to Wednesday's game and a voucher to attend a future contest.

ABOUT PURDUE
  • The No. 23 Boilermakers come into the week with a 1-0 record following a 63-57 season-opening win over Ball State at Mackey Arena on Sunday.
  • A late rally by the Cardinals shrunk an 11-point lead to three with 1:14 to play, but Whitney Bays and KK Houser scored five points in the final 13 seconds to preserve the win.
  • Houser scored 21 points in the opener and leads the team in scoring through a game. Bays and Liza Clemons also reached double-digits in scoring in the opener scoring 13 points and 10 points, respectively.
  • Purdue shot just 31.8 percent from the field, including 25.0 percent from three against Ball State.
  • Senior Courtney Moses was a Preseason All-Big Ten selection, and she has averaged 12.0 ppg and shot 64.2 percent from the floor in the last two meetings combined against IUPUI.
  • In her two games against the Jaguars, Houser has averaged 15.5 ppg and shot 61.1 percent from the field.

THE SERIES WITH THE BOILERMAKERS
  • Purdue leads the all-time series against IUPUI, 3-0, including wins in each of the past two seasons at Mackey Arena.
  • Wednesday's meeting will be the first meeting between the schools in Indianapolis.
  • IUPUI is just 1-15 all-time against Big Ten institutions, but that one win came at home against Minnesota back on Dec. 31, 2000, by a score of 85-80.

LAST TIME OUT ...
  • A 15-1 run to start the second half fueled by Nicole Rogers and Dee-Dee Bellamy led IUPUI to an 80-58 win over Belmont in its season-opener Saturday afternoon (Nov. 9) at The Jungle.
  • Rogers and Bellamy scored 16 of their combined 21 points in the second half, and Rogers led the squad with 16 points on 4-of-6 shooting from three. Mikale Rogers added 13 points in her first career game, while Nevena Markovic chipped in 11 points helping the Jags outscore Belmont 40-21 in bench scoring.
  • Both teams came out of the gates scoring at a high frequency, but it was Markovic's five points off the bench that allowed IUPUI to take a 13-11 cushion with 14:20 to play. The lead grew to six, 17-11, following an Akilah Sims bucket and a pair of free throws from Caitlyn Tolen, but Belmont was able to stay within two possessions through the under eight-minute media timeout.
  • An 8-2 run out of the under-eight media timeout, which featured a triple from Nicole Rogers, a put-back from Markovic and an old-fashioned three-point play from Mikale Rogers, slid the Jags lead to double digits with 6:07 remaining.
  • A scoring drought from the field occurred over the next 5:36 for IUPUI, but it was able to connect on three free throws during that stretch to keep its lead at six until a Shanika Maddox lay-up with 31 seconds to play broke the scoring drought and moved the lead to eight, 34-26. With the clock winding down at the end of the half, Katie Comello drew a foul with less than two seconds to play and then proceeded to knock down both free throws to send the Jaguars into the half with a 36-26 advantage.
  • The difference in the opening 20 minutes was IUPUI's bench production. Thanks in part to Markovic's nine points and Mikale Rogers's five, the Jags bench outscored Belmont's 23-4 in the first half.
  • Bellamy and Nicole Rogers immediately made an impact on both ends of the floor over the first four minutes of the second half helping the Jags move that 10-point halftime lead to 24, 51-27. Nicole Rogers buried a triple six seconds into the half, before Bellamy scored five points in transition and drew an offensive foul to ignite the crowd. Following Bellamy's five points, Rogers connected on another three and a fastbreak lay-up to cap a 15-1 run over the first 3:12.
  • Following that opening run, the IUPUI lead never dipped below 20. Just following the under-eight media timeout, a bucket inside from Markovic and Nicole Rogers' fourth triple of the game expanded the cushion to 32 points, 72-40, its largest lead of the game. From that point, the Jags cruised to an 80-58 win.
  • Maddox and Markovic posted eight rebounds apiece to lead the team on the glass, and Maddox also added eight points.

UPCOMING PROMOTIONS
  • The Jaguars play the first three games of the regular season at home this year and the Jaguars have some upcoming promotions for those games.
  • Wednesday's match-up against Purdue will serve as one of IUPUI's Summit League Food Fight games. Adults who bring a non-perishable food item to the game will received a discounted price for admission to that game, along with a voucher for tickets to a future game.
  • The IUPUI Department of Athletics will also be handing out free #IMAJAGUAR t-shirts to all fans while supplies last.
  • Sunday's game against Missouri State will be a continuation of IUPUI's Summit League Food Fight initiative as adults who bring a canned food item will receive discounted admission and a voucher to attend a future game.

OPENING UP STRONG
  • For the second consecutive season, Nicole Rogers came out of the gates strong for the Jags helping them post a season-opening win over Belmont.
  • Last year in her first career game as a Jag, Rogers came off the bench and hit four triples en route to scoring 14 points in a 107-48 win over Grace College.
  • On Saturday afternoon against Belmont, Rogers went 6-of-8 from the floor, including 4-of-6 from behind-the-arc, to finish with a game-high tying 16 points in her first career start.
  • Following her lead was Mikale Rogers, who in her first career game, came off the bench and scored 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting in just 15 minutes of action.

FRONT-COURT PRODUCTION
  • Coming into the season, one of the questions facing the Jaguars was how they were going to replace the front-court production of Kerah Nelson.
  • Nelson, who completed her four-year career a season ago, finished her career as the program's all-time Division-I leading scorer with 1,614 career points. She also finished fifth in school history in rebounds with 705.
  • In the opener against, Belmont, the frontcourt of Akilah Sims, Shanika Maddox, Mikale Rogers and Nevena Markovic collectively answered those questions for at least one game.
  • That quartet combined to score 38 points and grab 26 rebounds for the Jags, led by Rogers' 13 points and Maddox's and Markovic's eight boards each.
  • That group also combined to hit on 17-of-29 field goals (58.6 percent).
