VOLLEYBALL ENDS FIVE-GAME HOMESTAND TUESDAY AGAINST BUTLER

Jags and Bulldogs square off at 7 p.m. Tuesday

9/3/2012 5:24:00 PM

INDIANAPOLIS – Last Tuesday, the IUPUI volleyball team began its 2012 home season and five-match homestand with a win over Indiana State, and on Tuesday, Sept. 4, the Jaguars will look to close out that homestand with a win when it hosts local rival Butler at 7 p.m. inside The Jungle.

The Jags enter Tuesday’s match with a 5-2 record and is 3-1 during their current homestand. This past weekend, the Jags went 2-1 at its home tournament, the IUPUI Hampton Inn Invitational, which included wins over North Texas and Georgia State before falling to Ball State in the tournament finale.

Kelsey Hoefer led IUPUI in kills during last weekend’s tournament averaging 3.60 kps, while hitting .307 en route to earning all-tournament honors, and she looks to continue that success on Tuesday against the Bulldogs.

Butler enters Tuesday’s tilt with a 4-2 record after having its four-match win streak snapped in its last match at Pittsburgh.

The Bulldogs own a balanced offensive attack with seven players averaging over 1.00 kps led by Belle Obert’s 3.10 kps. The balance carries over to the defensive end of the floor as six Butler players average over 2.00 dps.

However, in the early going of the season, Butler has thrived in its serving (1.96 sa/s) and blocking (2.80 bps).

The match can be viewed online at IUPUI Live! via IUPUIJags.com for $4.95.
