ZIONSVILLE, Ind. - The IUPUI men's golf team went the wrong direction on the leaderboard over the final 18 holes at this weekend's Wolf Run Intercollegiate as the Jaguars finished 13th of 14 schools at 922 (310-298-314). Illinois won the event at 3-over 855 while host Indiana was second at 6-over 858.

Ohio State, which led the field after 36 holes, finished third at 13-over 865.

IUPUI got solid efforts at the top of the lineup from junior Rob van de Vin and sophomore Santiago Ruiz, but was unable to overcome a trio of big numbers as the course played much tougher on Sunday. van de Vin carded a final round 4-over 75 to finish his tournament at 225 (78-72-75), tying for 36th of 81 players. The Netherlands-native climbed more than 10 spots on the leaderboard on the tournament's final day.

Ruiz tied for 41st overall at 226 (78-74-74) and was the Jaguars' low man on Sunday.

Behind him, senior Matt Bruce came in at 239 (76-84-79) after having carded the Jaguars' low score in round one. The freshman duo of Jordan Lenard and Austin Winings capped the Jaguars' lineup.

Lenard posted a final round 86 en route to a two-day 239 (79-74-86) as both he and Bruce tied for 68th overall. Winings finished at 244 (78-78-88) and placed 76th.

IUPUI finished ahead of Butler by 50 shots, but fell behind both Northern Illinois and Summit League foe IPFW on the tournament's final day. Indiana's Brant Peaper won medalist honors with an 11-under 202.

The Jaguars will return to action on Sept. 29-30 when they participate in the CHAMP Patriot Invitational at Laurel Hill in Lorton, Va., hosted by George Mason.
