FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The IUPUI men’s tennis team remained perfect in Summit League play after downing South Dakota State 6-1 Friday afternoon in Fort Wayne, Ind.
 
The win improved the Jaguars to 7-12 overall, while upping their Summit League record to 3-0.
 
IUPUI got out to an early 1-0 lead sweeping all three doubles matches, led by an 8-6 win from the Jags top duo of #Patrick O’Neill and Luke Bielawski#. #Joel Modesitt and Nick Volz# picked up the most impressive victory winning 8-2 at the No. 2 spot, while the combination of #Deon Shafer and Louis Sacks# escaped their No. 3 doubles match with a win in the tiebreaker.
 
From that point, the Jags depth took over.
 
Volz continued the momentum with a third-set tiebreaker win at the No. 1 position, which was followed by an impressive 6-3, 6-3 straight-sets victory for Ivan Mojsejev.
 
Chase Emerson stepped in at the No. 3 spot and secured a tight second-set win after cruising to a 6-1 first-set win, which ultimately clinched the match for the Jags.
 
South Dakota State got on the board with a win at the No. 4 singles position, but Modesitt and Sacks closed things out with dominant wins at the fifth and sixth singles spots.
 
The Jaguars return to action on Sunday, March 25, when they travel to Bloomington, Ind., to take on No. 21 Indiana. The match is set to begin at 6 p.m.
