SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Following a win over Saint Louis, the IUPUI men’s tennis team traveled to South Bend, Ind., to take on No. 30 Notre Dame Sunday evening and fell to the Irish, 7-0.

The loss dropped the Jags to 2-5 on the season, and the loss to the Irish was IUPUI’s third loss to an opponent ranked in the Top 60 nationally.

Notre Dame swept all three doubles matches, but IUPUI hung with the Irish at the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles spots falling 8-6 and 8-5, respectively.

Nick Volz took on UND’s Casey Watt at the top singles spot and Watt downed the Jags top singles performer by identical 6-2 scores.

The entire singles rotation, including Volz, fell in straight sets to Notre Dame, but Joel Modesitt had the best showing at the No. 3 spot falling by a break in both of his sets.

The Jags have a busy weekend next week with four matches in two days. IUPUI takes on Wisconsin-Green Bay and Northern Illinois on Friday, Feb. 17, before meeting up with Valparaiso and Chicago State on Saturday, Feb. 18.
