  • Since the start of the 2010-11 season, Fort Wayne is 5-1 against IUPUI, but the Jags snapped the Mastodons five-game winning streak in the series during the last meeting with a 76-62 win at The Jungle on Feb. 4, 2012.

LAST TIME OUT ...
  • IUPUI trailed by eight at halftime against the No. 12/13 Purdue Boilermakers, but a 14-2 Purdue run to start the second half broke the game open and sent the Boilermakers to a 78-53 victory over IUPUI Friday afternoon at Mackey Arena.
  • DeAirra Goss led the Jags with a season-high tying 24 points, but 22 IUPUI turnovers resulted in 28 Boilermakers points proving to be the difference in the outcome.
  • Six Jaguars turnovers to start the game resulted in eight quick points for the Boilermakers, but Akilah Sims scored six points and grabbed four boards in the early going to keep the Jags within four, 12-8, a little more than eight minutes into the contest.
  • The Jaguars were able to use their quickness offensively to pick up a pair of driving lay-ups to cut their deficit to one, 14-13, with 10:40 to play, but an 11-0 Boilermakers response over the next 2:36 quickly moved the Purdue lead to double-figures, 25-13.
  • After another Sims bucket brought IUPUI within 13 points, 28-15, Goss heated up for the Jags scoring 11 of IUPUI’s final 13 points over the final 5:36 to cut the Jaguars deficit to single digits, 36-28, heading into halftime.
  • Out of the half, IUPUI hit just one of its first six shots from the field while on the other end, Purdue hit four of five field goal attempts to go on a 14-2 run that opened up a 50-30 advantage five minutes into the second half.
  • The Jaguars used baskets from Dawn Luster, Sims and Goss to close within 14 points with a little more than 13 minutes to play, but Purdue quickly pushed its lead to 22 points, 58-36, thanks to a Liza Clemons lay-up, a Courtney Moses three and a KK Houser triple.
  • Two Alyssa Holder buckets and a pair of baskets from Goss brought IUPUI back within 15 points, 62-47, with 7:30 to play, but the Jaguars could not trim the Purdue lead any further and eventually fell by a score of 78-53.
  • In addition to Goss, Sims reached double figures for the third straight game with 10 points on 5-of-10 shooting.

CONFERENCE OPENERS
  • IUPUI has played 13 Mid-Continent/Summit League openers and is 6-7 all-time in conference openers at the Division I level.
  • Nine of those 13 games have been played at home, while the other four have been away from home.
  • The Jaguars are 5-4 in home openers, but just 1-3 in conference openers away from home.
  • IUPUI’s lone road win to open conference play occurred at Oakland on Dec. 28, 2005, when the Jags defeated the Golden Grizzlies, 78-74.

GOSS NOTCHES 20-POINT PERFORMANCE AT PURDUE
  • DeAirra Goss started her IUPUI career with back-to-back 20-point performances earlier this season in the Jags opener against Grace College and at Wright State.
  • Goss scored 24 points in 24 minutes in the season-opener vs. Grace, before tacking on 22 points in a four-point loss at Wright State on Nov. 14.
  • Goss shot lights out those first two comes connecting on 18-of-27 shots (66.7 percent), including 4-of-6 (66.7) from three.
  • However, despite scoring in double figures seven times in the nine games following the Wright State game, Goss averaged just 11.1 ppg for IUPUI as it went 5-4.
  • The junior from Ben Davis got back on track against a quality opponent in Purdue in the Jags last outing scoring a season-high tying 24 points.
  • In addition to her scoring, Goss also tied a season-high with seven rebounds.
  • Heading into Summit League play, Goss leads the Jags in scoring averaging 14.2 ppg, and is tied with Kerah Nelson for the most 20-point games with three.

FRESHMAN IMPACT
  • With Kerah Nelson missing the last three games, freshman Akilah Sims has stepped up in her absence.
  • In games against Goshen, Butler and #12/13 Purdue, Sims has put up 10.3 ppg and 7.7 rpg in just 17.7 minutes of action.
  • Her 10.3 ppg and 7.7 rpg ranks second and first, respectively, on the team during the last three games.
  • Against Goshen, Sims scored a career-high tying 11 points and grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds in just 12 minutes for her first career double-double.
  • She followed that with 10 points and seven rebounds in 20 minutes against Butler while battling foul trouble.
  • That performance was backed up by a 10-point, 6-rebound outing at No. 12/13 Purdue.
  • On the season, Sims is averaging 6.3 ppg and 4.5 rpg in 15.2 minutes per game.

TURNOVERS AND STEALS
  • Coming into its game against IUPUI on Dec. 3, Youngstown State’s season high for turnovers was 19.
  • However, the Penguins had not seen pressure like the Jags as they nearly doubled their previous season-high against IUPUI committing 37 turnovers.
  • Of the 37 turnovers, 20 were steals for the Jags, marking the first time since Dec. 10, 2010, against Southern Illinois that IUPUI had recorded 20 steals in a game.
  • Additionally, the 22 turnovers forced against Purdue was the second-highest amount for the Boilermakers this season. Their highest turnover output was 25 against No. 2 Connecticut.
  • So far this season, the Jaguars aggressive, up-tempo defense has forced their opponents into 25.5 turnovers per game and IUPUI owns a +5.9 turnover margin.
  • Of the 306 turnovers forced, 137 have been steals averaging out to 11.4 spg.
  • The 25.5 turnovers forced per game by IUPUI is tops in the Summit League by 7.6 turnovers per game, and its 11.4 steals per game is also tops in the Summit League.
  • Just once this season has an IUPUI opponent finished a game with less than 20 turnovers and that was Indiana -  the Hoosiers finished with 16.
  • Prior to the Butler game, the Jaguars ranked 18th nationally in turnover margin (+7.2).
