LAST TIME OUT ...
  • Four players scored in double figures and all 12 players that saw action scored leading IUPUI to an 87-31 win over Goshen College Sunday (Dec. 9) at The Jungle.
  • In just 12 minutes of action, Akilah Sims registered the first double-double of her career with a career-high tying 11 points and career-best 10 rebounds. Additionally, Alyssa Holder came off the bench and scored a career-high 15 points, Claire Holba put in a season-high 10 points, and Nicole Rogers buried four three’s en route to a season-high tying 14 points.
  • IUPUI outscored Goshen 56-to-12 in points in the paint for the game, but it did not start out that way as the Jags struggled from the floor hitting on just one of their first nine attempts, while Goshen hit on three of its first six field goal attempts to take a 7-2 lead just 3:32 into the contest.
  • However, IUPUI quickly clamped down on defense and held Goshen to just one field goal for the remainder of the first half. During that span, IUPUI went on a 43-3 run to take a 45-10 advantage into the half.
  • After the slow shooting start, IUPUI closed the opening 20 minutes shooting 18-of-34 from the field and it was led in scoring by Jordan Barton and Holder, who had eight points apiece at the break.
  • Out of the half, the Jaguars made a concerted effort to get the ball inside, and Sims and Shawnece Teague combined to score the Jags first eight points of the second half to move IUPUI’s advantage to 53-11, with 15:56 to play.
  • Leading 58-16, IUPUI went on another run, this time a 15-0 spurt, thanks in part to six points from Holba on three straight trips down the floor.
  • The run upped the Jags lead to 73-16 with 7:50 to go, and from that point, IUPUI cruised to an 87-31 victory.
  • Rogers and Dee-Dee Bellamy each set career highs in assists with six apiece as the Jags collectively dished out 22 assists on 37 made buckets. On the other side, Goshen managed just four assists while committing 31 turnovers.

HOME SWEET HOME
  • This season, the Jags are 5-1 at home and are outscoring their opponents by an average of 22.0 ppg on their home floor.
  • IUPUI’s only home loss came against Youngstown State on Dec. 3, by one point, 58-57.
  • At home, IUPUI is shooting 45.4 percent from the floor and 37.4 percent from three, which is up from 40.9 percent shooting and 28.8 percent shooting from three in all games.
  • Kerah Nelson leads the team in scoring at home averaging 16.8 ppg, while DeAirra Goss and Katie Comello are averaging 12.2 ppg and 9.5 ppg, respectively.
  • From behind-the-arc, Katie Comello (11-of-28) and Nicole Rogers (13-of-24) are collectively shooting 46.2 percent from three.
  • While the Jags are forcing their opponents to 25.8 turnovers per game on the season, opponents are averaging 28.5 turnovers per game inside The Jungle this season.

3-POINT THREAT
  • Since the 2008-09 season, the IUPUI women’s basketball team hasn’t had a player shoot over 37.0 percent from three in a season (at least one attempt per game).
  • While there is a long way to go this season, freshman Nicole Rogers has proven to be an instant 3-point threat just 10 games into her collegiate career.
  • The Kokomo, Ind.-native is shooting a team-high 45.7 percent from three and has hit three or more triples in four games this season.
  • In just 8.0 minutes per game, Rogers is averaging 5.2 ppg, but she has proven to be instant offense for IUPUI when it is need of points.
  • Trailing by seven points with just less than eight minutes to play against Youngstown State, Nicole Rogers came off the bench and proceeded to deliver three triples in a 3:32 stretch to break the Jags out of an offensive slump and give them a chance to win down the stretch.
  • For the season, 35 of Rogers’ 40 field goal attempts have come from behind-the-arc and 16 of her 17 made field goals have been triples.

TURNOVERS AND STEALS
  • Coming into its game against IUPUI on Dec. 3, Youngstown State’s season high for turnovers was 19.
  • However, the Penguins had not seen pressure like the Jags as they nearly doubled their previous season-high against IUPUI committing 37 turnovers.
  • Of the 37 turnovers, 20 were steals for the Jags, marking the first time since Dec. 10, 2010, against Southern Illinois that IUPUI had recorded 20 steals in a game.
  • So far this season, the Jaguars aggressive, up-tempo defense has forced their opponents into 25.8 turnovers per game and IUPUI owns a +7.2 turnover margin.
  • Of the 258 turnovers forced, 116 have been steals averaging out to 11.6 spg.
  • Just once this season has an IUPUI opponent finished a game with less than 20 turnovers and that was Indiana -  the Hoosiers finished with 16.

BALANCED SCORING
  • While DeAirra Goss and Kerah Nelson have provided a bulk of the scoring for the Jaguars this season, the Jags have excelled when having that third scorer step up.
  • So far this season, Katie Comello has filled that role with five double-figure scoring games, which is tied with Nelson for second on the team behind Goss’ seven double-digit scoring outings.
  • Outside of those three, however, IUPUI has had six additional players score in double figures at least once.
  • Akilah Sims has reached at least 10 points three times this season, Nicole Rogers has done so twice, while Dee-Dee Bellamy, Claire Holba, Alyssa Holder and Nevena Markovic each have done so once.
  • When IUPUI has at least three players score in double figures, the Jags are 6-1 this season, with their one loss coming at Eastern Illinois on Nov. 29.
