IUPUI tucked in third place entering Sunday's final round

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The IUPUI men's golf team got off to a strong start at the Boilermaker Invitational on Saturday are are six shots behind host Purdue heading into Sunday's final 18 holes. Purdue turned in a 36-hole score of 593 (296-297) on their home Kampen Golf Course, while Idaho was second at 596.

IUPUI was third at 599, but shot the tournament's best round of the day with a second round 289. Junior Ben Engle led the way at 145 (75-70), just one shot off the lead. Purdue's Adam Schenk and Northern Illinois' Jeff Dick both shot an even par 144 on Saturday and Engle sits alone in third-place. Teammate Michael Davan was one of five players to shoot 146, as the Illinois-native went 76-70.

Senior Ben Moster carded a 157 (82-75) and is tied for 38th while freshman Jose Pablo Segurola is tied for 41st at 158 (77-81). Junior Michael Powell, who was fresh off winning The Summit League title, was disqualified in the first round but rebounded with a second round 74.

Purdue's top four players were all among the top 15, led by Schenk's 144 and Zhongyang Fu's 150. IUPUI easily outdistanced both of the other Summit League foes among the field as IPFW is seventh and Western Illinois is eighth.

Final round action is slated to start at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday.
