TULSA, Okla. -- In their first cluster of the season, the IUPUI men's tennis team used the doubles point to spur a victory over Oral Roberts.  In The Summit League Tournament semifinals, the second-seeded Jaguars narrowly dropped the doubles point, leading to a 4-2 loss to No. 3 Oral Roberts at the Shadow Mountain Racquet Club on Friday afternoon.

After rain pushed the morning match indoors, the Jaguars and Golden Eagles were able to head outside for their semifinal matchup.

IUPUI (6-18) won doubles, 2-1, in the team's first meeting in Indianapolis, a 4-2 Jaguar win.  In the rematch, Oral Roberts held on to their break at No. 2, securing an 8-6 win to wrap up the early point.

Joel Modesitt and Taylor Tunis rolled to an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles to put the Jags in position to capture the point, but ORU returned with a victory at No. 1 to set up the pivotal doubles match.

Needing four singles wins to rally for the win, the Jaguars could muster two, as Jorge Yunes picked up a straight-set, 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 6 to bring IUPUI within 3-1; Nick Volz mirrored the effort with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 4 to close the deficit to one, and with Modesitt a game away from clinching No. 5, the match hung on the result of the No. 3 match.

Unfortunately for IUPUI, Deon Shafer fell to Dmitry Suslov, 6-2, 7-5, to clinch the match for the Golden Eagles.

The Jaguars wrap up the season 6-18 and returned to The Summit League Tournament after a one-year absence.
