EAST LANSING, Mich. -- The IUPUI men's tennis team could not scratch out a win over the weekend, going 0-3 as they criss-crossed the Midwest.  The Jaguars dropped a 4-3 contest to Eastern Illinois on Friday before falling by identical 6-1 counts to Michigan State and Detroit on Saturday at the Michigan State Indoor Tennis Facility.

Playing at the Wabash Valley Tennis Center on Friday night, IUPUI (1-12) picked up an early doubles point against Eastern Illinois after Deon Shafer and Nick Volz picked up a key 9-8 win at No. 2, piggybacking the effort from Taylor Tunis and Joel Modesitt, who won at No. 3, 8-6.

Unfortunately, the Panthers took four of the six singles matches from the Jaguars to pick up the win; still Volz and Modesitt continued their season-long success.

Volz, the Evansville Central H.S.-product, rallied for a three-set win at No. 3 singles, picking up a 1-6, 6-2, 6-3 win to give the Jaguars their second point of the evening.

Modesitt would hand IUPUI their final point of the match when he won at No. 4, picking up a super tie-break victory after a 4-6, 6-3, 10-6 win.

On Saturday, the Jaguars traveled to East Lansing, Mich., where they met Michigan State in a midday match.

Modesitt was the lone Jaguar to pick up a win in the day's first match, rallying for a three-set win once again at No. 4 singles.  After falling in first-set tiebreak, 6-7, Modesitt picked up the second set, 6-3 and persevered for an 11-10 win in the super tie-break.

Taking on Detroit in the evening session, it was Volz who recorded IUPUI's lone victory, taking another three-set win at No. 2 singles.  This time Volz won the first set, 6-1, before suffering a 2-6 loss in the second set.  In the super tie-break, Volz won by a break, 10-8.

The Jaguars will be back in action on Friday, March 12, when they host the University of Dayton.  The matches will begin at 6:30 p.m. ET from the Indianapolis Tennis Center.
