MACOMB, Ill. -- Trailing Western Illinois by two games with seven games remaining, the IUPUI women's basketball team will seek a crucial victory over the Fighting Leathernecks on Saturday. Tip-off from Waste Management Court at Wetern Hall is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. CT (5:30 p.m. ET), with Scott McCauley on the call on IUPUIJags.com.
IUPUI (2-20, 1-10 Summit) sits one loss from tying the school record for losses in a season, but is meeting a Western Illinois (7-15, 3-8 Summit) team that is ranked in the bottom five of the country in scoring offense, at 47.8 points per game.
Ebony Davis has led the Jaguars in scoring in each of the team's last two games, posting a career-high 17 points last Saturday, before a 10-point, 13-rebound effort in Monday's loss to Oakland. The double-double was the second of Davis's career.
Kerah Nelson's streak of 10-plus points came to an end at nine games on Monday, as she finished with 9 points; in conference play, Nelson is The Summit League's fifth-leading scorer at 14.7 points per game.
The Fighting Leathernecks are led by Jordon O'Brien, who is averaging 10.1 points per game and 13.3 in conference action. O'Brien led Western Illinois to a 52-44 win in The Jungle on Jan. 9, scoring 25 points as the Leathernecks held off a late IUPUI rally.
IUPUI has won just once in their last 10 meetings to Waste Management Court, a 59-43 win over WIU on Feb. 23, 2009.
