INDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI Department of Athletics and head men’s tennis coach Brandon Currie announced today the signing of two student-athletes, Jacob Bradley and Thomas Gans, to National Letters of Intent. Both will be true freshmen and join the program beginning in the fall of 2011.

"We are extremely excited and proud to have two commitments from two outstanding players,” said Currie.

Gans will make his way to Indianapolis from Plano, Texas, where he was an all-district and team MVP performer at Plano Senior High School. Earlier this year, the 6’ 8” Gans captured the 2010 Louisiana Clay Court Championships and advanced to the round of 16 at the UT Arlington ITA in July.

Despite being from Texas, Gans has some ties to the state of Indiana as his father, Chuck, played college basketball for both Southern Indiana and the University of Indianapolis.

Similar to Gans, Bradley is a three-star recruit according to tennisrecruiting.net. A native of Plainfield, Ind., Bradley was a first-team all-state selection in 2010, a year removed from earning honorable-mention all-state honors.

“Both Thomas and Jacob will have an immediate impact on the IUPUI tennis program. They are both three-star recruits with great academics and character and will both contribute to our goal of winning the Summit League Championships. I see great things for them at IUPUI,” Currie said.
