ABOUT WRIGHT STATE
·         Wright State enters the season with a new head coach in Mike Bradbury, who spent the last three seasons at Morehead State University.
·         Bradbury led the Eagles to a 22-10 record and a WNIT berth last year.
·         The Raiders feature seven freshmen on their 13-player roster, which includes four seniors and a pair of juniors.
·         WSU finished with an 11-19 overall record and placed seventh in the Horizon League a year ago.
·         Of the returners, LaShawna Thomas led the Raiders in scoring last season averaging 12.1 points per game and she earned 2010-11 Preseason Second-Team All-Horizon League honors.
·         Maria Bennett was the top perimeter scoring threat last season connecting on a team-best 60 treys at a 32.4 percent clip.
·         One of Wright State’s weaknesses in 2009-10 was defending the three-pointer as the Raiders allowed opponents to shoot 38.4 percent from behind-the-arc.

FIRST APPEARANCE
·         IUPUI stepped onto the floor for the first time under head coach Austin Parkinson on Monday, Nov. 12, in an exhibition game against Indiana Tech.
·         Behind 39 points from Kerah Nelson, the Jaguars defeated the Warriors, 81-74.
·         Fouls played a key part in the contest as both squads combined for 55 fouls, resulting in 37 free throw attempts for the Warriors and 36 for the Jaguars.
·         IUPUI took its largest lead of the game, 37-18, with 3:02 to play, behind a 22-7 run that spanned over seven minutes.
·         During that run, Nelson and Demetria Nunley-Lash combined to score 16 of the 22 points.
·         Over the final 8:47 minutes, Nelson scored 20 of her 39 points , hitting all six of her shots and 6-of-9 attempts from the free throw line.

JAGS INK ONE FOR 2011-12
·         Women’s Basketball Head Coach Austin Parkinson announced on Wednesday, Nov. 10, that Claire Holba (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton) signed a National Letter of Intent to join the women’s basketball program for the 2011-12 campaign.
·         “We are thrilled that Claire has chosen to be part of the IUPUI basketball family,” said Parkinson. “Both athletically and academically, she embodies the type of player and person we want bring in to our program.”
·         Holba had a breakout season for the Trojans last season averaging 17.8 points per game and 7.6 rebounds per game, while shooting 56.5 percent from the floor.
·         Despite a 7-14 record for Chesterton, Holba was a Northwest Times First-Team All-Area selection, an Indiana Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) First-Team Under Class All-State honoree, and earned AP Honorable-Mention All-State distinction. She also was selected to the Indiana Junior Girls All-Star Team.

FRESH FACES
·         The Jaguars welcome a whole new coaching staff and eight newcomers for the upcoming season.
·         After two seasons as an assistant coach on the IUPUI men’s staff, Austin Parkinson was named head coach of the women’s program on Sept. 29.
·         Parkinson was a four-year player at Purdue from 2001-2004 under legendary head coach Gene Keady, and finished his career as the career leader in assist-to-turnover ratio and is currently 10th in Boilermaker history in career assists.
·         He will be joined on the bench by two new assistants, Jarietta Benton and Brittany Korth, both of which were hired in June.
·         Korth was a four-year letterwinner for Cleveland State University, helping take the Vikings to their first-ever Horizon League Tournament title, earning All-Tournament Team honors as CSU clinched its NCAA Tournament berth in 2007-08.
·         The Vikings’ all-time leader in games played (120), Korth moved onto the Cleveland State bench in the 2008-09 season, serving the last two basketball seasons as a student assistant coach, finishing her master’s degree in sports management.
·         Benton spent the last four years the Saint Louis University program, spending three of those years as director of basketball operations.
·         Benton was a member of the DePaul University basketball team that qualified for the NCAA Tournament four straight years. As a senior and team captain in 2006, she helped the Blue Demons post a 27-7 record and reach the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16.
·         On the court, Parkinson welcomes four freshman (Shea Collins, Del’Niqua Bellamy, Demetria Nunley-Lash, and Dawn Luster), one sophomore (Katie Comello) and three juniors (Jasmine Horne, Shakeeta Cotton, and Emily Phillips).
·         Sophomore Katie Comello and Emily Phillips are both unable to play the 2010-11 season due to NCAA Transfer Rules as Comello comes to IUPUI from Cincinnati Christian and Phillips makes the move back to her home state from Penn State.

PRESEASON RECOGNITION
·         After earning honorable-mention all-conference honors as a redshirt freshman a year ago, redshirt sophomore Kerah Nelson was selected a Summit League Preseason Second-Team All-Conference selection in the annual Preseason Summit League Poll.
·         Last season, Nelson led the Jaguars in scoring and rebounding averaging 13.7 points per game and 5.7 rebounds per game, becoming the first freshman to lead IUPUI in scoring since Kelli Werling pulled the feat in the 1996-97 campaign.
·         IUPUI was picked to finish in ninth place in the preseason poll.
·         Oral Roberts was tabbed as the preseason champion after falling in the Summit League Tournament Championship game a season ago.
