FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- Looking to snap their longest losing streak in over five years, the IUPUI women's basketball team will travel to one of their most hospitable road venues when they meet IPFW on Monday night. Tip-off from the Gates Sports Center is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET and can be heard on IUPUIJags.com with Scott Taylor on the call.
IUPUI (1-13, 0-3) has dropped their last seven games, matching the school-record streak of both the 2004-05 Jaguars (Dec. 23-Jan. 17) and the 1996-97 IUPUI Metros, who lost seven straight games from Dec. 14-31, 1996.
However, the Jaguars will be playing in a road venue in which they have been extremely successful, going 6-1 all time at the Gates Sports Center. IUPUI has won their last three games in Fort Wayne, including a 70-61 win on Jan. 24, 2009.
For IUPUI,
Kerah Nelson and
Briannica Tye have been making an early push for all-Summit recognition. Nelson posted a team-high 15 points in the Jaguars' loss to Oakland on Saturday, while Tye leads the Jaguars with a 13.7 point per game average in Summit League play.
The Jaguars will be meeting an IPFW (4-8, 2-0 Summit) that has gotten off to their best conference start since joining The Summit League three years ago. The Mastodons have gone 4-1 at the Gates Sports Center, including a 16-point defeat of Western Illinois on Saturday.
The 'Dons are led by Stephanie Rosado, who transferred to IPFW from UTEP. The 6-2 forward is averaging 13.8 points per game to pace the team and is posting 17.5 points through two Summit League games.
