INDIANAPOLIS - Sitting one game out of the race for The Summit League Tournament at the conference's midway point, the IUPUI women's basketball team will look to take the first step towards Sioux Falls, S.D., when they host in-state rival IPFW on Saturday. Tip-off from The Jungle is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. ET, and the Jaguars will be honoring the 2010 IUPUI Athletics Hall of Fame Class at halftime of the game.
Fans can catch the game in a variety of formats, including on HomeTown Sports Network's reairing of the game later this week. Scott Taylor will be on the call of the game live from The Jungle, with pregame coverage beginning around 4:20 p.m..
IUPUI (2-18, 1-8 Summit) is coming off an 0-2 road trip through UMKC and Southern Utah, while IPFW (9-11, 6-3 Summit) went 0-2 on their sojourn to North Dakota State and South Dakota State. Â
The teams are meeting for the second time this season, as the Mastodons claimed a 61-49 win over the Jaguars at the Gates Sports Center in Fort Wayne, Ind., on Jan. 4.Â
Kerah Nelson led the Jaguars with 15 points in the defeat; the St. Petersburg, Fla.-native has paced IUPUI in scoring in each of the last eight games.
Nelson's 21 points at Southern Utah on Monday matched her career high. The freshman is third in The Summit League in scoring in conference play, averaging 15.2 points in nine conference contests.
The bombs-away Mastodons enter Saturday's game tied for fourth place in The Summit League. IPFW is averaging 19.6 three-point field goal attempts per game, knocking down 34 percent of their attempts from downtown. The 'Dons are paced by Stephanie Roasdo, who has controlled the interior with 14.4 points and 6.5 boards per game.
The Jaguars will wrap up their home doubleheader when they meet Oakland on Monday at The Jungle.
