ELMHURST, Ill. -- IUPUI junior men's tennis player #
Gregory Sosa# has been named to The Summit League Men's Tennis Second Team, the conference announced today. It is the second straight season the junior has earned postseason honors.
For most of the 2008-09 season, Sosa anchored a young IUPUI squad, playing at No. 1 and No.2 singles throughout the year. Overall, the Ecuadorian went 5-14 in singles play, but was a solid 2-4 in Summit League action, playing No. 1 singles in all six matches.
At the end of the 2008 campaign, Sosa was a two-time Student-Athlete of the Week choice in the 2008 spring season, going 11-11 overall, playing anywhere from No. 1 to No. 3 singles. In Summit League play, Sosa was 3-1, all at No. 2 singles.
Sosa is the second consecutive IUPUI men's tennis student-athlete to earn back-to-back all-conference honors, joining assistant coach Gabriel Garcia, who picked up All-Summit honors in 2007 and 2008.
The IUPUI men's tennis team will return all of its letterwinners for the 2009-10 season.
