FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- In a battle of 2-2 Summit League teams, the IUPUI men's tennis team dropped a 4-0 decision to Western Illinois Friday afternoon at the Swinney Park Tennis Courts.
Forgoing doubles play, IUPUI (3-15, 2-3 Summit) and Western Illinois (8-15, 3-2 Summit) squared off in singles play first, and the Leathernecks clinched a spot in The Summit League Tournament by taking four matches.
Bren Vasalakis was the lone Jaguar to pick up a set, but unfortunately for the freshman, the match was suspended with Vasalakis leading 6-4, 3-1.
IUPUI will take on in-state rival IPFW with a Summit League Tournament berth on the line on Sunday. With both teams holding 2-3 Summit League records, the Jaguars and Mastodons will meet at 1 p.m. ET at Swinney Park.
