SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Located just 125 miles from IPFW, the No.4-seeded IUPUI women's basketball team had to travel 755 miles to the Sioux Falls Arena to meet the fifth-seeded Mastodons in The Summit League Tournament on Sunday.  The quarterfinal matchup will tip-off at 12:00 p.m. CST, and fans can follow the action on IUPUIJags.com or catch it live via the SummitTV subscription service.

IUPUI (15-14, 10-8 Summit) wrapped up the fourth seed in the conference tournament with their 59-43 win at Western Illinois a week ago.  Just 13 days prior, the Jaguars were stunned by IPFW, 61-56, in their final home game at The Jungle.  In the defeat, Jernisha Cann posted her 50th career double-double with a game-high 18 points and 15 rebounds.

Though IPFW (9-20, 8-10 Summit) closed the season with seven wins in their last 10 contests to climb the league standings, the Jaguars were able to shut down the Mastodons' offensive attack in a 70-61 win at the Gates Sports Center in Fort Wayne, on Jan. 24.  Brykeesha Tate had a season-high 17 points in the victory, while Janna Eichelberger and Nicole James added 13 and 12 points, respectively.

The Jaguars have reached The Summit League Tournament semifinals in each of the last three years, the second-longest streak in the conference.  Last season, IUPUI used two stifling defensive efforts to reach the finals of The Summit Tournament, their first entry in the championship in school history.

Both Cann and Julia Whitted will be leaned on during the tournament, as both players were voted to The Summit League First Team for the second straight season.  Cann finished the season as the only player in The Summit League to average a double-double, averaging 10.9 points and 10.4 rebounds to go along with 3.8 assists in 16 conference contests.

For the second straight year, Whitted earned a First Team All-Summit nod after posting 14.8 points and 9.3 rebounds in Summit League action.  The Staunton, Ind.-native was third in rebounding, while her 2.3 blocks per game was second in the league.

Cann also made history in becoming the first player in Summit League history to three-peat as the conference’s Defensive Player of the Year.  The 5-foot-10 forward was second in Summit League play with 6.8 defensive rebounds per game, while her 3.4 steals per game paced The Summit.

With a win, the Jaguars will meet the winner of the #14/17 South Dakota State-Oral Roberts contest on Monday afternoon at 12:00 p.m. CST (1 EST).
