ATHENS, Ga. - Head Coach Maggie Calcaterra got major contributions from both ends of the batting order in a 6-1 win over UNC Greensboro at the sixth annual Georgia Softball Classic on Saturday. Freshman Sarah Oppelt went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI from the leadoff spot and the Harvey twins combined to go 3-for-5 with three runs scored from the bottom two spots.

Cassie Harvey cracked her second career homerun and Cayleigh Harvey was 2-for-3 from the bottom spot.

The speedy Oppelt put IUPUI up 1-0 in the top of the first when she singled, stole second and later scored on an Amy Raker single. UNCG (6-8) did its only damage of the game against Jessica McGown in the bottom of the first, using three hits to push home a run.

The tie was broken in the top of the second when Oppelt's two-out single plated both Harvey sisters, making it 3-1. Cassie Harvey's two-run blast in the fourth scored Stacy Harte in front of her and the Jaguars added insurance in the seventh.

Oppelt and Jessica Huey led off with back-to-back singles and the former came home on Leah Prewitt's infield hit. Huey was caught in a rundown between third and home on the play, ending the inning.

McGown (1-2) scattered six hits in her seventh career complete game, and struck out two. Amber Harrell (2-4) took the loss for Greensboro as she struck out six and walked four in the complete game effort.

In the nightcap, No. 16 Georgia (11-1) showed its mettle by ripping off 15 runs against three IUPUI (1-7) hurlers on way to a 15-3 five-inning victory under the lights. Cassie Harvey continued to shine, going 2-for-2 with an RBI.

Back-to-back homeruns off McGown (1-3) capped a six-run first inning rally and the host Bulldogs added eight more in the bottom of the second, half of which came on an Alisa Goler grand slam.

IUPUI scored in the top half of the second when Laura Wilcox drew a walk and moved up to second on a wild pitch. Harvey followed with a solid single to center, plating IUPUI's first run.

Trailing 15-1, IUPUI scored twice in the top of the fifth when Harvey, Harvey and Oppelt led off with three straight singles. Huey plated the first with an RBI fielder's choice and the second crossed when the Bulldogs misplayed a first-and-third double steal, allowing Cayleigh Harvey to score from third on a throwing error.

Taylor Schlopy went 2-for-2 with three runs scored and two RBI from the leadoff spot in the Georgia batting order. Sarah McCloud (3-1) got the win for the hosts, striking out one in three innings work.

IUPUI will conclude play at the three-day event on Sunday when it takes on Ball State at 11:00 a.m..
