INDIANAPOLIS – IU Indy dropped a non-conference matchup to Ball State, 13-4, in five innings on Tuesday afternoon at the IU Indy Softball Complex.
Ball State (14-15) jumped out early and never looked back, plating runs in each of the first four innings, including a five-run third that broke the game open. The Cardinals finished with 16 hits in the contest.
IU Indy (4-26) responded in the second inning, scoring three runs to cut the deficit to 4-3.
Ana Powell delivered an RBI single,
Pallas Dominion added a sacrifice fly, and
Mae Munson helped manufacture a run with a bunt single that led to a score on a wild pitch.
The Jaguars added another run in the third inning when Munson recorded her second hit of the day, driving in
Sonia Ruchala to make it 9-4. Munson led the offense with a 2-for-2 performance and an RBI, while Ruchala scored twice.

Ball State was paced by Maia Pietrzak's three-hit, two-RBI performance, while Ella Whitney drove in three runs.
IU Indy will look to bounce back as it returns to Horizon League play, traveling to Detroit Mercy to open a three-game series on April 3.
