CEDAR CITY, Utah -- Concluding their four-game road trip, the IUPUI women's basketball team will seek to end their two-game losing streak when they take on Southern Utah Monday night. Tip-off from The Centrum is scheduled for 7 p.m. MT (9 p.m. ET). Jaguars fans can follow the game via IUPUI Live!
IUPUI (10-11, 5-5 Summit) held UMKC to 58 points on Saturday, but could only muster 48 points of their own in the loss, jumbling the middle of The Summit League standings. The Jaguars are currently tied for fourth in the conference with the Kangaroos, one game ahead of Southern Utah (8-13, 4-6 Summit), Oral Roberts and Western Illinois.
The Jaguars will need increased production from
Jernisha Cann if they are going to improve their standing. Since missing two games with injury, Cann is averaging just 7.4 points and 9.8 rebounds, nearly seven points under her season average.
Southern Utah will be meeting IUPUI for the 24th time overall; with a victory over the Thunderbirds, the Jaguars would even the all-time series at 12-12. Earlier this season, IUPUI took a 68-47 win over Southern Utah on Jan. 3, 2009. In that contest, Cann grabbed her 1,000th career rebound, making her just the third player in Summit League history to go over the 1,000-point, 1,000-rebound milestone.
IUPUI is just 2-8 all time in Cedar City, picking up their most recent win at The Centrum on Feb. 19, 2007, when the Jags took a 51-37 win over the Thunderbirds.
