INDIANAPOLIS -- The IUPUI Department of Athletics and men's tennis head coach
Brandon Currie have announced that
Joe Hammond (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville) has signed a National Letter of Intent to compete for the Jaguars, beginning with the 2010-11 season.
Hammond is the two-time defending state doubles champion, taking the IHSAA titles in 2009 and 2008. In his junior year, Hammond helped lead the Eagles to a third-place finish in the IHSAA State Tennis Finals. In 2007, Zionsville was the state runner-up.
"Joe is an excellent athlete that has a great understanding of doubles and how to play the game," Currie said. "His great attitude and leadership skills will definitely help us seek our goal of competing for and winning The Summit League title."
The IUPUI men's tennis team will kick off the 2010 season on January 16, when they head south on I-65 to take on Louisville.
