BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The IUPUI women's basketball team hopes to have worked out the jitters in time for Sunday afternoon's game versus Indiana University. Tip-off from Assembly Hall is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. ET and the game can be followed via live audio on IUPUIJags.com.
IUPUI (0-1) fell into an early hole in their first game of the season and was never able to climb all the way out in a loss at Akron on Friday. However, the Jaguars play in the second half of the game, when they played the Zips even for the final 20 minutes, was an encouraging sign for a team with 10 newcomers on the roster.
Jessia Huffman led the Jaguars with 14 points in the loss, while
Clara Mitchell sparked IUPUI with 8 points and 9 rebounds off the bench.
The Jaguars have never faced Indiana (1-0), which helped found IUPUI in 1969 along with Purdue, whom the Jags met in 2008.
The Hoosiers snuck past Memphis in their season opener on Friday night, breaking at 74-74 tie with 50 seconds to play en route to a 78-74 victory. IUPUI will look to shut down Jori Davis, who has been IU's leading scorer in both preseason and regular season play; the junior posted a game-high 21 points in the Hoosiers win Friday night.
Fans can follow the game in a variety of ways - Scott Taylor will have the call of the game live on IUPUIJags.com, while BigTenNetwork.com will offer live streaming video of the game. Live stats will also be available by clicking on the above link.
