IUPUI had their chances in their first set, but could not take the lead to grab an early lead.  The Mastodons used a 4-1 spurt midway through the set to take a 19-15 lead and force IUPUI into a timeout.

The Jaguars responded with point on a kill by Holmes and an ace by Bernhardt to move within 20-18, prompting IPFW to take a timeout.  However, the Mastodons responded with a 3-0 run after IUPUI tied the score at 20, using two kills and a service ace to move in front 23-20 and force the Jaguars into a timeout.

Though IUPUI closed within a point at 23-22 after a Suding kill, IPFW was able to close out the set with two points to take an early 1-0 lead.

Trailing by a set early in the match, the IUPUI Jaguars fell behind early in the second set and did not recover, as IPFW cruised to a 25-17 victory.  Though the Jaguars were able to keep the set close early on, IPFW pulled away midway throught the match and held off IUPUI to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the match.

However, the Jaguars refused to go away quietly, rebounding from an early 7-2 deficit to take a 20-19 lead after two consecutive kills from Goodnight.  Reimbold kept the Jags rolling with a kill after a Mastodon timeout, and a Suding block put IUPUI up, 22-19.

A Suding and Holmes block closed the set as IUPUI cut their set deficit in half.

Just as IPFW cruised to a second-set win, IUPUI picked up a fourth set victory in commanding fashion, 25-16.  Kills from Reimbold, Suding and Goodnight helped the Jaguars get out to a 7-3 lead, prompting an early Mastodon timeout.

The 75-second break did little to slow IUPUI's momentum, as the Jags stretched their lead to 11-4 on back-to-back kills from Thompson and Reimbold.  Leading by seven, IUPUI pushed their advantage to as much as nine points, knotting the match at two sets apiece.

Having taken the last two sets and holding a 3-0 record in five-set matches, the Jaguars seemed to be in control of the match.  However, IPFW seized control of the fifth set with a 3-0 run with the set tied at 4, forcing IUPUI into a timeout.

Though the Jaguars forced the Mastodons into a timeout by cutting their deficit to 9-7, IPFW rallied with a 3-0 run to go up by five late in the set and match.

IUPUI will continue their road trip on Thursday, Oct. 15, when they travel to Cedar City, Utah, for their first Summit League match versus Southern Utah.  The match will begin at  9 p.m. ET.
