INDIANAPOLIS -- Smarting from a three-game losing streak, the IUPUI women's basketball team will look to put an end to the skid when they take on Centenary College. Tip-off from The Jungle is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Fans can watch the game via IUPUI Live!
IUPUI (7-9, 2-3 Summit) never led during a two-game road trip to #21 South Dakota State and North Dakota State. However, the Jaguars are 4-1 in the friendly confines of The Jungle, having won by an average of over 16 points per game at home.
The Jaguars will also be looking to regain the services of
Jernisha Cann, who missed last weekend's games due to injury. The senior leads the Jaguars with 17.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game. Due to her injury, Cann is still stuck on 13 consecutive double-doubles, the eighth-longest streak in NCAA history.
Centenary (3-13, 1-4 Summit) enters the game losers of six of their last eight contests; however, the Ladies went 1-1 a weekend ago, defeating IPFW, 73-51, before losing to Summit League co-leader Oakland on Monday.
Saturday's matchup will be the 11th meeting all-time between the Jaguars and Ladies; IUPUI has never lost to Centenary, going 10-0 over the last five years. In the 2007-08 season, IUPUI won, 59-45, at the Gold Dome, before getting a career-high 23 points from
Farren Stackhouse in a 97-45 win at The Jungle on Feb. 18, 2008.
In the home win last year, Cann crossed the 1,000-point threshold, becoming the 18th player in IUPUI women's basketball history to achieve the feat.
Tickets for the game are discounted by $3, meaning fans can attend the doubleheader for a $7 adult ticket or $4 children's ticket. Fans who cannot get to the doubleheader can catch the game online via IUPUI Live! The men's game, featuring head coach Ron Hunter's drive for Samaritan's Feet, will follow the women's contest.
