KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Last week, IUPUI Head Coach Steve Franklin was wondering if his team's offense would ever find the back of the net. On Sunday, his Jaguars got goals from four different players, including three in a 3:02 span in the second half, on their way to a 4-0 win at Western Michigan.

It gave the Jaguars seven goals in a two-match stretch after being blanked in four straight games, counting the preseason.

Sophomore defender Derek Craig got the game-winner in the 25th minute on a corner kick and Matt Guy, Javier Portillo and Cameron Williams scored in succession midway through the second half to ice the win.

"It was a good team win," Franklin said. "The match really swung when we inserted Matty Guy and Cam Williams up front. They got us excited.

"I think all the boys got a little excited and it was kind of a domino effect after the second goal."

IUPUI (2-2) hit paydirt on its second corner kick of the day when Craig was able to redirect the Portillo drive past WMU goalkeeper A.J. Reed. Otherwise, WMU (1-2-1) seemingly controlled play for much of the first half, forcing IUPUI senior goalkeeper David Barszczowski to make all seven of his saves in the opening 45 minutes.

The second half was a much different story.

Guy scored his second goal in as many matches when he pulled Reed off his back line before beating him with a shot with 26:24 to play. The play was setup by Williams, who earned his first assist of the season.

"You could see the floodgates kind of open after the second goal," Franklin said.

Fifty-seven seconds later, it was Portillo who scored off an assist by junior Eric Weigman. Weigman played a ball off to the freshman from Guatemala, who hit a drive from just inside the 18-yard box for his second goal of the year.

Williams capped the day's scoring just 1:05 later when he headed a loose ball in for his third career goal.

Barszczowski and fellow senior Francisco Maia shared the shutout as the latter worked the final 14:13 in net. The shutout was the defense's first of the season, despite being outshot 16-13 on the day. None of WMU's six second half shots were on frame and four on IUPUI's five shots on goal ended up in the net.

The Jaguars return to action next Sunday when they head down I-65 to take on the University of Louisville. That match, which kicks off at noon ET, will be televised in the Louisville metropolitan area on WHAS-11 (ABC affiliate).
