INDIANAPOLIS -- The IUPUI volleyball team held Centenary to just 10 total points on their service, recording 63 digs and hitting .297 while cruising to a 3-0 win in their Summit League opener Friday night at The Jungle.  The Jaguars won the three sets, 25-9, 25-14, 25-19.

IUPUI (8-5, 1-0 Summit) was led by Kalyse Reimbold, who had 12 kills to pace the Jaguars.  Chelsea Bastin once again led the squad in digs, tallying 16, while Shari Bernhardt had 13.  As a team, the Jags totalled 63 digs in just three sets.  The defense stifled Centenary (2-10, 0-1 Summit) throughout, limiting the Ladies to just 10 points on their serve in the match.

For the week, Reimbold had 38 kills, more than double her total entering the week.  The Jaguars as a team had 167 digs, an average of 20.88 per set.

In the opening set, Reimbold led the way with 7 kills, as the Jaguars hit .444 in their 25-9 romp.  From the first point, IUPUI was the aggressor, jumping out to a 7-1 lead and forcing a Centenary timeout.  The closest the Ladies came to the rest of the set was seven points, at 10-3.  In the set, the Jags did not allow Centenary a point on the Ladies serve, going 10-for-10 on the sideout.

Leading 19-8, the Jaguars closed on a 6-1 run, with five of the points coming on the serve of Kaley Huffman, as IUPUI used kills from Dana Gardner and Bernhardt during the run.

The Jaguars kept the pedal down in the second set, racing out to a 10-2 lead, getting their first five points on Bernhardt's serve.  From there, the Jags cruised to a 2-0 lead, as Reimbold had 5 kills in the set to lead a balanced attack.  Hillary Houston had 3, while Jessica Phelps, Rachel Holmes, Goodnight and Bernhardt each had 2 kills, apiece.

Again the IUPUI defense limited Centenary's attack, holding the Ladies to a .100 hitting percentage.  The Jags had 27 digs in the set, with Bernhardt totalling 8, Goodnight 6 and Holmes and Bastin chipping in 5 apiece.

Mixing and matching the lineup in the third set, IUPUI allowed Centenary their first lead of the match at 1-0 before the Jaguars came back and built a five-point lead at 11-6, using consecutive service aces by Monica Suding to force a Centenary timeout.

The Ladies kept the set close, staying within four points until Suding tallied another ace to make it 20-14 in favor of the Jags.  A red card on the Centenary coaching staff gave IUPUI a 21-14 lead, and the Jaguars wrapped up the match on a kill from Cassidy Lambring.

IUPUI will head on the road for their next two matches, taking on Cincinnati on Tuesday, Sept. 23.  The match will begin on the UC campus at 7 p.m.  The Jaguars' next conference match will be at Western Illinois on Satuday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. CT.

The Jaguars will return to The Jungle on Friday, Oct. 3, when they take on Oral Roberts.  The match will begin at 7 p.m.
