JAGS COMPLETE REVERSE SWEEP OVER BUTLER

Jillian Tippman totaled 19 kills while Maia Long added 17

FISHERS, Ind. – The IU Indianapolis volleyball team showed their resilience Friday night inside the Fishers Event Center, erasing a two-set deficit to stun crosstown rival Butler, 3-2 (22–25, 19–25, 25–22, 25–22, 15–10).

After dropping the first two sets, IU Indy found itself on the brink. In set three, Jillian Tippmann and Maia Long delivered back-to-back kills to close out a tight 25-22 win, swinging momentum to the Jaguars.

Set four mirrored the third. Morgan Ostrowski's quick attack and a block from Chloe Macias  helped IU Indy edge Butler, 25-22, to even the match at two sets each.

In the decisive fifth, the Bulldogs raced ahead 8-4 at the changeover. The Jags then went on a 7-0 run including back-to-back-to-back kills from Long and a service ace from Ostrowski to give IU Indy the 11-9 lead. Butler fired back with a kill to make it 11-10 before IU Indy closed out the match with four straight points, capped off with a kill from Tippmann.

Tippmann powered the offense with a match-high 19 kills on .406 hitting, providing the steady scoring the Jaguars needed to turn the match around. Long added 17 kills and six digs, including several crucial swings late in sets three and four. Ostrowski was a force at the net, finishing with 11 kills (.364) and three blocks.

Grace Purichia ran the offense with 58 assists and chipped in 10 digs, keeping the Jaguars balanced. Defensively, Laura Roeder anchored the back row with 14 digs and two service aces, while Ninah Miranda tallied 16 digs and chipped in nine kills.

IU Indy outhit Butler .245 to .206, recording 66 kills to the Bulldogs' 57. The Jaguars also dug 70 balls compared to Butler's 52, a defensive edge that proved vital in extending rallies and fueling their comeback.

The Jaguars improve to 6-5 on the year and will next travel to West Lafayette to take on the No. 11 ranked Purdue on Sunday, Sept. 21. The Boilermakers and Jags are set for a 1:00 PM first serve.
