MADISON, Wis. -- The IUPUI volleyball team's four-match winning streak came to an end in the opener of the InnTowner Invitational, hosted by the University of Wisconsin.  Central Michigan was able to shut down the Jaguar attack, as IUPUI fell, 3-1, to the Chippewas.

IUPUI (6-3) was led by Danielle Goodnight posted her seventh double-double of the season, tallying 13 digs and 29 assists.  No Jaguar finished with more than 8 kills.

Central Michigan (6-1) got out to a quick start in the first set versus IUPUI, jumping out to a 7-2 lead and forcing a quick Jaguar timeout.  The Jaguars closed to within two on a kill by Monica Suding, but the Chippewas reopened their advantage to six, causing coach Steve Payne to burn his second timeout of the set.    The Jags would come no closer than four points, on a Rachel Holmes service ace, as they dropped the opener, 19-25.

In the second set, CMU again blitzed the Jags early, taking a 6-1 lead to force an early IUPUI timeout.  This time, there would be no Jaguar rally, as Central Michigan pushed their lead to 10, at 13-3, to cause another Jaguar timeout.  The Chippewas held IUPUI to 4 kills in the set as they rolled to a 25-12 win.

Following the break, IUPUI stormed back into the match, going on an 11-1 run midway through the third set to close within a set of a tie.  Trailing 11-15, the Jags used kills by Kalyse Reimbold, Ashley Johnson and an ace by Shari Bernhardt to close within 15-16 and cause a Chippewa timeout.

Coming out of the break, the Jags continued their run, using two kills by Lauran Thompson and two CMU attack errors to take a 22-16 lead.  From there, IUPUI cruised to a 25-18 win, closing within a set of the Chippewas.

However, Central Michigan broke an 8-8 tie in the fourth set to go up, 12-8, causing an IUPUI timeout.  Though the Jags battled back, closing to within 16-15 on a kill by Johnson, the Chippewas went on a 4-1 run to build a comfortable advantage, and they closed the match with a 25-19 victory.
