INDIANAPOLIS - IUPUI Head Softball Coach Maggie Calcaterra has announced that former standout Kim Wright will serve as the team’s Volunteer Assistant this season. Wright played at IUPUI from 1990-92, earning three straight NAIA All-District nods and a Second Team All-America award in 1992 when she batted .411 for the season.
The former outfielder concluded her career with a .348 batting average, a .416 on-base percentage and 113 runs batted in in 161 career games.
Wright, an Indianapolis-native, brings 10 years of high school coaching experience to the program, having served as Bishop Chatard’s head coach from 1997-06. While there, she helped Chatard to sectional crowns in 1998, 2003 and 2004 and a city championship in 1999. She also guided Chatard to a regional title during the 1998 postseason.
Wright’s experience also includes serving as a hitting/fielding instructor at Softball LTD for eight years. While there, she worked primarily with kids between the ages 8-18 and was a lead speaker for coaches seminars and summer camps.
She is currently employed by Americraft Carton/Artistic Carton Company where she’s a National Account Manager and oversees more than 150 accounts.
