KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Beginning their quest to return to The Summit League Men's Tennis Tournament, the IUPUI men's tennis team fell in their opening matches of the conference season Saturday, losing to host UMKC, 4-1, and dropping a 4-0 match to Western Illinois at the Plaza Tennis Center.

Against UMKC, the Jaguars fell behind by a quick point when they lost the first two doubles matches, played.  In singles play, Jorge Yunes continued his strong play of late with a dominating 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 5.

Despite Gabriel Garcia leading his match, 6-3, 4-2, play was halted because the Kangaroos had secured enough points to clinch the win via victories at Nos. 3, 4 and 6.

In the afternoon session, IUPUI dropped doubles matches at No. 2 and No. 3 to fall behind, 1-0, heading into singles action.  Victories at Nos. 3, 5 and 6 sealed the win for the Leathernecks.

The Jaguars will be back in action tomorrow morning, finishing the cluster versus Centenary at 9 a.m. CT.
