INDIANAPOLIS -- Playing arguably their best tennis of the early season, the IUPUI men's tennis team defeated visiting Youngstown State, 6-1, Saturday evening at the Indianapolis Tennis Center.
IUPUI moved
Gabriel Garcia back to the No. 1 singles slot, and he responded favorably, defeating Youngstown State's Scott Kathary, 6-4, 7-6 (5). Garcia also teamed with
Gregory Sosa to win their No. 1 doubles match 9-8 (4).
Sosa also won at No. 2 singles in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3.
Jorge Yunes,
Blake Powers and
Josh Kutch all won their singles matches to clinch the victory for the Jaguars.
Prior to singles play, the Jags picked up a crucial doubles point with Yunes and #E.J. Dechow# combining for an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles, assuring IUPUI of an early 1-0 lead.
IUPUI will back in action tomorrow, Feb. 17, when they host Bradley University.
