Game Notes
MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- Looking to rebound after a disappointing loss on Tuesday, the IUPUI women's basketball team will take on Wright State Saturday in the opening round of the Robert Morris Thanksgiving Tournament. Tip-off from the Charles L. Sewall Center is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET.
IUPUI (3-2) has won three of its last four games, dropping a 73-63 contest to USC Upstate on Tuesday night, the program's first-ever contest in Conseco Fieldhouse. Senior
Jernisha Cann continued her torrid start to the season, matching her career high with 23 points while corraling a season-high 15 rebounds. For the year, Cann is averaging 18.4 points and 11.8 rebounds.
With four straight double-doubles, Cann can equal the school record of teammate
Julia Whitted should she get her fifth consecutive double-double versus Wright State.
Wright State (1-1) and IUPUI have met five times previously, but this will be the schools' first meeting as NCAA Division I institutions. The last meeting between the teams occured on Jan. 2, 1986, when the Raiders defeasted the then-IUPUI Metros, 82-55.
Depending on the outcome of the contest, the Jaguars will take on either Howard or tournament host Robert Morris at 12 or 2 p.m. in the consolation and championship games, respectively.
